I think people overrate draft picks on here. I'd be surprised for Baertschi to not bring back a high 2nd rounder if he'd be traded, a team like Buffalo would definitely trade their 2nd to get some help in their top-9 on the wings.

It's not always overrating picks when people don't really value your player that highly.

I would take Baertschi back if he was interested in learning a middle 6 game from someone like Frolik (a good comparable, IMO). Depending on how our D shakes out ( i think there will be a trade) I would offer Kylington straight across. Vancouver could win that trade.

I'd give a 2nd or 3rd for him if he wanted to come back. Shift gaudreau or tkachuk to the rw. Fact is we need offense, and I think he'd fit the middle 6 really well.

Gaudreau - Monahan - ferland
Baertschi - backlund - tkachuk
Bennett - jankowski - frolik

I'd take him back as well, but I'd use him as a RW. I think he could have a future in the league as a Frolik. Same scoring he has now, but with good defensive abilities. He's still young enough to learn a different role.

Baertschi is an underrated player. He’s actually really developed his defensive IQ while still producing at a reasonable rate, just a bit miscast in Vancouver.

Would be a stingy pickup for any third line imo.

Value wise, makes more sense for Van to keep him and hope some young wingers force him down the depth chart.... but I wouldn’t trade him for anything less than a 2nd.

Baertschi would have been perfect on Vegas last year. Quiet guy who buys into the system, has a good all around game, scores at a decent rate, all while going essentially unnoticed. I don't think he'll ever score 60 points a season but the way his all around game has developed over the last two years I think he'll solidify his role as a bona fide 2nd line player.

In my opinion he's probably worth a mid-high second or a couple 3rds. I think he would do well if he landed in Buffalo or Edmonton where he could ride shotgun with a great center.

Some people haven't watched him play enough. His defensive game has improved alot since he was first delt to Vancouver.

It would be a terrible move dealing him now, considering the responses here. The Canucks have been absolute garbage for years and he's one of the few players on the roster that can actually generate offense.

Last year was his first year in a top 6 role and he scored 18 goals while missing 14 games. 20+ goals 40+ point pace each of the last 2 years. His value isn't as high as it probably should be due to time missed, but if he plays 75+ games he should score atleast 20 goals & 40 points.

Unless you can package him I don't think its the time to move him. I get trying to make room for Goldobin but realistically Nucks fans would be ecstatic if Goldy could put up Baertschi's production. Leipsic can find a role anywhere in the top 9. And 2 top 6 (offensive) roles just opened up for those kind of guys (throw Virts in there too). Trading Baertschi for a draft pick would only make a bad team worse. Not smart IMO.
