TSN: Subban behind Boyle and Letang for Team Canada

I don't believe Letang should be a head of him. Boyle I wouldn't be too upset about if he's ahead of him. Boyle is really good.

Letang is just as terrible, if not more so than Subban defensively.

Honestly if subban isn't on team Canada and guys like Boyle, Vlasic, Letang are i won't care less about if they win gold or not. Subban deserves his spot on this team just like a player like Pietrangelo. They are the future of team Canada you need them there.

Forget TSN, Normand Flynn on RDS said even Vlasic is ahead of PK in his opinion.

But he also said Luongo and Crawford are ahead of Price so we can see the guy is totally unbiased.

PK will likely be on the 3rd pair with AP, the first 2 pairs pretty much being locks by now. Toss up between PK and Subban for a spot on the 3rd pair and toss up between AP and Bou for the other spot on that 3rd pair.

Cant see Boyle/Vlasic making the team, except maybe in Letang or Bou's spot. With the extra lineup spots in the Olympics compared to NHL, they can afford to dress an extra D for PP situations (on that 2nd unit).

From what I've seen of Letang, he's a lot better than folks are giving him credit for in this thread. I think he's a pretty good blueliner based on what I've seen from him.

C'mon...
If Subban isn't on the team I don't want Price either, so I can care less!
So it has to be a package deal? lol

He's not just totally unbiased he's totally clueless, according to one poster here (I didn't see it) he was comparing P.k to Mike Green earlier today.

I have no qualms about cheering against team Canada and I'm born and bred here. I am more of a fan of the Montreal Canadiens than Team Canada in anything.

2 things are for sure:
-Letang stats are inflated based on the fact he's playing on a team that solely focus on offense
-Read above

He's a frenchie Mike Green. French media always said Green has issues in his zone (which is true) yet they saw Letang as a complete Dman.

Subban was compared to him 3-4 years ago because of the style of defensemen they are. Letang has failed to improve in his zone. I wonder how Markov would look on the PP with Crosby and Malkin. Same can be said about Subban. Letang has less offensive upside than Subban or Karlsson.

I personnally always tought he was a bit overrated. Medias in Québec always hyped him to death in the last few years. He was hyped big time last year for the Norris, 'till his injuries.

No way he deserved a Norris.

Subban is a top 5 dman in the league right now, so i wonder why he isn't good enough to be on team Canada. They prefer players like Seabrook, Bouwmester, Vlasic yeah sure. Right now there is not a single dman that has the offensive talent that Subban has (on team Canada). Just for being a PP specialist he would have a great use.

I'm really starting to hate all the crap that surrounds Subban ( a lot from the media and haters).

Don't make me boo you Habsawce.

HATED it when Yzerman wasn't on the team. But I couldn't cheer against Canada. C'mon man, keep it in perspective here.

His style of play is outside the box and he's a younger player - AND he's cocky. That scares people. You watch him occassionally and it looks like he's too cute with the puck. You watch him for 82 games and you realize that he can do it because he can get away with things that others can't.

I used to think he was too risky. Not anymore.

Letang uses such a short stick and is constantly out of position from taking offensive chances. He's a greedy player and I would not feel comfortable with him in the Olympics.

I'm more Quebecois than Canadian. I would be happy if they win but it wouldn't ruin my day if they lost. Specially without Subban.

It's 2 weeks and not hard to forget. Are you still upset about 2006 or 1998? I couldn't give 2 ***** and if they aren't going to take Subban it's for political reasons because he's obviously in the top echelon of players in the NHL, let alone for Canada. I can't get behind that crap.

1998: they only lost due to a goalie being in the best stretch for several years the game has ever seen. Not like they played poorly in that Semi.

Its the same goalie who was beating up Brodeur in his prime for the Vezinas year in year out. Roy never posted such numbers and dominance either.

2006 was sad tho, real sad.

I think most of it is me just being pissed at all the bad press Subban gets and these idiots on TSN running their mouths, on top of MT being an idiot with Subban's ice time. I'm sure when the Olympics roll around and he's on the team I'll still cheer for them but there will 100% be a bad taste about the team.

Subban gets so little respect it's just frustrating.

ps. Lafleur boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooourns.

I'm with the people who would be furious if PK was left off the team.

Someone recently wrote how PK's Norris trophy is the only one in recent memory with asterisks next to it. The guy isn't respected enough for his skills and abilities... and his hockey IQ.

I remember last May at the World Championships, PK was the best Dman (and probably best player) on Team Canada against Sweden and was the only one who was really making things happening.

It's disgusting how the media pundits always underrate him... and his own coach Michel Therrien is giving them ammunition (some might say purposely) by not playing him on the PK and in ALL SITUATIONS like we know he can! That's a form of disrespect to the player in my books. Yeah, it's a team game, but when you have a player like Subban, you don't artificially impose random rules to break/mold him. Why? Because that means you're not treating players equally in a supposed meritocracy, and indeed are placing a HANDICAP on your best player for self-serving purposes.
