Watching the game with a bunch of bandwagon Floridians who decided to become "fans" a couple of years ago. Painful.

If we'd had a normal 19-20 & 20-21, Habs wouldn't have made it in. They were extremely lucky to be there, but played well enough to survive. VGK series was a legit victory.

Yes. Somehow in that trade...

Detroit walked away with Kyle Quincey.
Colorado walked away with Steve Downie.
Tampa walked away with Andrei f***ing Vasilevksiy.
That's Conn Smythe Trophy winner Andrei Vasilevskiy to you. :D

ok so happy for Stamkos and to know that Yzerman had a big part to build the team but like I really hope they don’t win three in a row lol

Congrats Tampa, well deserved.

Tampa and Montreal have a quick turn around time from now to about when the NHL wants to start next season. Good luck to the players getting right back into rather quickly.

Really hurts knowing we traded Vasilevskiy for Kyle Quincey
Sure, that's one way to see it. However at the time, Mrazek 1st played in DET during '12 season (Vasi's draft yr.), so he had a 2 yr. head start & was the incumbent heir apparent to Jimmah. '12-'16 Mrazek was good, til his b-day 2-14-16 (the meltdown) & he never recovered. '20-'21 was the 1st yr. that PM's Sv% approached those early yrs in DET.

So in retrospect, (even if we did select Vasi @ 19th, which isn't probable) Vasi would've:

1. given us a strong tandem w/Petr, Vasi's NHL debut was '14-'15.
2. or option to trade Petr/Howard, or both & get a 1b vet
3. Saved us from Jimmy's long & bloated $ contract.
4. Assuming his development was near TB level, he'd have us in bubble team territory or 5th-8th (worse draft pick).
5. Sure we might beat CHI & TB in the playoffs, Bruins too possibly. But we'd be 1 & done w/our D.
6. He'd have been a major trade piece to help the rebuild.
7. DDK played his best hockey w/Quincey as his partner lol.

well there it is , yzermans built a dynasty . and you know why ? mr ilich one day asked ' whose the best , lets get the best ' . this outlook eventually turned hockey town into the ' acropolis of the nhl ' where the ' bc sage ' learned from the best . mr ilich dialed up jimmy d who learned from al arbor , then jimmy d rung up mr scotty bowman ! then came murph , cheli , lirionov , hull , luc , dom , etc . and #9 #7 were always around . and #19 learned from all these hockey greats to one day become ' the bc sage ' (yzermans from BritishColumbia)
