Am I reading this right? Is the Eastern Conference playoff matchings line up with the older style 1-8 playoff matchings?

Well, in the old 1-8 format, the three division winners per conference would earn seeds 1-3 and the 4 seed would be the team with the most points who did not win their division and so on.

So division winner Florida would have played the 7 seeded Islanders if you applied the same concept with 2 divisions instead of 3.

With the disappointing losses in the last 2 games the Bruins will likely finish at #9 in the NHL.

It’s OK but I always feel much better if they finish in the top 5 for the season, preferably the top 3.
