I wish they'd have claimed the guy from that team who already ruined his trade value by demanding said trade. And by "claim" I mean, like actually trade something for.

That always goes two ways. For every Dan Ellis there is a Cam Ward.

Sometimes I have to remind myself that Ward is also a first name.

Martin has a over .93 save percentage here.

He is seeing more rushes and HDCA here per game than in Columbus.

He is seeing less shots and rebound chances than in Columbus.

Goalies are voodoo
Martin's first 3 games in Colorado: .865 SV% with 4.35 GAA
Martin's first 6 games in Vancouver: .950 SV%, with a 1.74 GAA
Martin's next 29 games in Vancouver: .871 SV% with a 3.99 GAA
Martin's first 13 games in Columbus: .887 SV% with a 3.65 GAA
Martins first 4 games in Carolina: .925 SV% with a 1.96 GAA

He has shown at least 1 stretch of short games in the past where he has good numbers.

Re: the bold, maybe he fits the system the Canes play? Canes don't allow a lot of shots, but also due to the aggressiveness of the defensemen, often leave some high quality chances. The team skates well and all of our D are pretty decent puck handlers/passers though so many times there is a defenseman nearby to swat away any rebound. So essentially, make the first save and allow the D/Forwards to clear it? Just speculating.

I wouldn't be against letting Martin continue playing even when Freddy comes back. Let PK get 2 starts, Freddy get a start, Martin get a start. With the way our goalies break so easily, no need to push any of them. Rotate Raanta in when whichever one gets hurt.
