I thought this might be of interest to some ATD GMs as a resource.
Here is a link to a spreadsheet that contains special teams scoring stats for all players from 1952-53 to 1986-87. The scoring numbers are compiled from the Hockey Summary Project's boxscores.
Official NHL stats are available for PPG, SHG, and ESG from 1963-64 until 1986-87 at www.hockey-reference.com. The numbers in this file don't always match up with the official numbers. That's probably because of changes to the official stats that were not reflected in the boxscores.
Also, for the most part the numbers are by last names only. I have added first names for many of the more prominent players that share last names (Howe, Hull, Esposito, Richard, Sutter, Savard, Nilsson, etc), but for others you will just have to look at the team they played for to identify the player.
For years from 1987-88 and on, you can find full official NHL special teams scoring stats at www.hockeyhunter.com. Recent years are also available at www.nhl.com.
(The file also contains records of first and second assists, in case anyone is interested. I'm not really sure what to make of them, but if anyone wants to use the info it's there.)
