That would be my guess. Even if you got a verbal commit from him during the tampering period, another team could swoop in with a ridiculous offer and change his mind before July 1st.

He was basically playing 3rd line minutes in Boston mostly. 50 point center is probably his upside. Backup for MacKinnon not succeeding at center, or ELITE #3C.
