That's not what it means.

Ovechkin has already smashed the career shot record and already has more than 1,300 more shots than Gretzky.

Ovechkin is 12.9% career efficient. The Top 250 in history (with a significant number of shots) is beyond 14%. Draisaitl has 18.1%.

The record means nothing because many other players could have scored more goals than Ovechkin by taking more shots.

Oh so it’s not the one awful argument- it’s actually an even worse one. Got it.

If he was that strong, Washington would have more than 1 appearance in the conference finals in 19 seasons. It wasn't the good teammates who were missing.

The guy will have had this record by accumulating shots in a one-dimensional game. Not by playing spontaneously in a varied register.

Team game and no, the roster was not consistently there.

You’re arguing scoring goals isn’t a useful skill in a sport where the team with more goals wins. Come on dude. If you wanna consider that somewhat overrated, if you just hate Ovi, ok, but it’s ridiculous to claim it’s not an impressive record.

You can win matches by having more diversity among the shooters. 2 playoff campaigns with a positive presence since 2010. 2 in 13 years. Carlson, Backstrom, Kuznetsov, Wilson, Oshie, Holtby... very good team.

I have the right not to be impressed.

His record won't mean anything to me because other players in the league could reach his score by focusing like he did.

There are so many active players with 15-18% shooting success, with more variety in the game. Ovechkin is not even in the top 50 active players. It's a fact.
