Great period by Team USA.

Canada is still Canada though. Have to play better to hold that team off for another 2 periods.

Great flow to the games when the IIHF refs don't interject themselves into the action.

Remember folks, a 2-0 lead doesn't mean much in junior hockey. Canada started off slow and got punished. US looks much more organized and composed. I agree Spott should play the first line more but every time one of the wingers gets the puck the play dies.

Spott is a terrible coach, but this is mostly on the players. They're the ones on the ice, making the plays. Needless to say, they're embarrassing the nation right now.

It's hard to come out better prepared than USA did. Impressive.

No, its more Canada being underprepared and making poor plays.

Some really suspect passing choices and forced plays really bit the Canadian squad in the ass.

i think there is one thing that we can all agree on and that is that finally the refs are letting the kids play.

USA dominated. Why don't we have any type of offensive system in place?

Let's turn it around next period. GO CANADA GO

Things making this game fantastic so far...

1. The refs are letting the boys play

2. The Leaf fans outweighing the Habs fans in the "Why isnt Reilly/Galchenyuk on the ice the whole game?"

LoL.

Number 2 especially, every time reilly is not on the ice a leaf fan is upset. Have not followed u.s. that closely though.

One of the issues with Canada's D is that there are too many "steady eddy" type D men. Harrington, Ouelett, Wotherspoon, Reinhart. These guys are top 4 defensive D men but offensively, they are lacking. The US D is completely different, all their best defensive guys are also their best offensive guys, guys like Jones and Trouba, who can both probably log 25+ minutes.

What a 1st period.

Galchenyuk has been invisible too. Hope he wakes up.

D was great. I thought Jones & McCabe had strong periods.

What excuse will Canadians use after the US wins? Can't use the "our best players are in the NHL," excuse this year.

So IIHF changed rules about an ice-hockey match constituting of 1 period instead of 3?

Whenever Rielly plays it's with Murphy and Wotherspoon, and both players have been terrible. Don't think Spott has any idea what he's doing. He keeps thinking Hamilton is the #1D, change it up at least for a bit! Give different people more ice time. It's not working.
