Employers like hiring people they know. It is business.

Complain about it all you want, but it happens in every business.

yeah but the thing is even though dorion and management are the ones hiring him, it's boucher's choice and it's his coaching staff so to call it nepotism is just purely wrong on the semantics side of things

Cronyism.

Perfectly normal, PD said the head coach would be able to bring in whoever they see fit. Dont you want a head coach to have guys around him he trusts and knows? As opposed to what has happened in the past?

The head coach is not gonn a hire people hr doesn't trust, nor is he gonna hire people he thinks won't help him win.

Same couple of posters that have struggled with every move the team makes, and every move they don't make. Some people just need to complain about everything, for our entertainment I suppose.

Look, Boucher's job, and future employment is performance and results based. It is a fundamentally unforgiving position, and we have a history of having little problem cutting bait with a coach who is not meeting acceptable targets.

Boucher has THE MOST vested interest in getting this team going and being successful, because his livelihood directly rests on it. So he is naturally going to hire who he thinks are the very best people to get that job done. He's not going to hire people for favours when his job and reputation depends on success. He's going to put together the absolute best team he can, full of guys who can work together, are good at their defined tasks, and can adapt.

Claiming nepotism and cronyism is just pure entertainment brought to us by the same fellows as always. There are endless ways of taking potshots at the team as we all have learned over the years, and this is just another one, albeit less creative, while at the same time making less sense, than others.

Not only that, people cried murder when Cameron was hand picked by ownership to be the assistant rather than let Maclean pick his own.

Now that Boucher gets to pick his own, the usual suspects ***** and moan.

Yeah, I was critical of the Cameron selection (although it was more aggravating once he became head coach, and the results proved that feeling to be correct) but I have absolutely no problem with the coaching hirings this summer. If things don't work out they don't work out but at least Boucher is picking his own guys that he feels he can attain the maximum results with for this roster.

The definition of nepotism is people in positions of power favouring friends when it comes to hiring.

Raymond was fired two seasons ago after a horrible season as the head coach of Drummondville. Hardly an impressive resume, even for an assistant coach position.

Say what you will about Dave Cameron, but at least he had proven he was one of the best coaches in the OHL when we hired him to be an assistant. Raymond flunked out of the Q and got a major promotion. Other than that, only decent coaching position he has held has been an assistant coach to Boucher.

Cookson was a nepotism hire too, but at least he's qualified.

Is there any evidence that Boucher and Raymond are "friends "?

These nepotism charges are absolutely absurd.

GM hired the coach after a thorough process. He didn't hire his nephew or wife. Lol
Then the coach is allowed to pick and choose his staff. He picked people he knows and trusts. Just like every other head coach.

You know, every little details they can try to find against the management is enough to cry against them..
