Belmont (New York):
- The fall meet opened today. Races generally played true to form. The track handled over $8,000,000 for the opener.
- Javier Castellano got off to a quick start with two wins.
- Trainers Carlos Martin and Chad Brown each won twice.
- Rubilinda (Jose Ortiz/Chad Brown) won the $100,000 feature race as 4-to-5 favorite and wowed many onlookers with her terrific finish. Sired by Frankel. The runner up, ridden by mid-Atlantic regular Feargal Lynch, almost earned the stunner of the day but finished in place position with an 11-to-1 shot.
- If there was anything approaching a shocker, it was race 2 when Madame Barabarian won with a driving finish at 10-to-1. Connections Angel Arroyo/Richard Metivier don't have too many wins in New York. The filly finished third at Suffolk Downs earlier this summer and entered this race with a lifetime mark of 21 1-2-3.
Penn National (Pennsylvania):
- Angel Rodriguez is 7 4-2-0 tonight. Earlier today, he won his only ride at Laurel. That makes five wins and two places in eight rides at two tracks.
Laurel (Maryland):
- Opened its fall meet today.
Arlington Park (Illinois):
- The $1 Super High Five Jackpot paid out $121,699 after jockey Jose Lopez's third win on the card.
Gulfstream (Florida):
- Canceled due to the impending hurricane.
Los Alamitos (California):
- Bug Evin Roman won three times.
- Favorites won six of the eight races.
Woodbine (Toronto, Canada):
- Canceled due to the tragic death of an exercise rider.
