It's hard to argue with the results the kids have been producing lately. Whatever very minimal developmental benefit a veteran would bring to those kids would be more than offset by loss of ice time. Not to mention the cost of that veteran next year when he's an OA will be significantly less. They'll get playoff experience this year with or without any additions and be ready for a more serious run next year.

If you don't add this year,
Do you sell a couple pieces?
Maybe Cormier?

With the lack of goaltenders available, could probably get a solid return of picks that you could clip for a more serious run next season.

Just curious

If we dont buy I hope we get to trade Crawford, Cormier. Let a young goalie develop instead like Savard18 said we will lose in the 1st rd wish I had your crystal balll. Swoopster it is my opinion thats all an opinion. I believe that young players sitting in the stands does not help them develop, again my opinion.
I don't think the addition of a '98 or two will get Saginaw past the second or even first round of the playoffs this year. OA's will be quite a bit cheaper next year. If they go get some this year, they'll just be spending extra to once again be eliminated early. I don't see the point in messing with that team's chemistry right now.

Finster, I always value what you say, hell sometimes you and I are the Spirit comment section. I do think Lamour has to play more but there is a fine line between giving the backup needed exposure and developing a winning attitude.

You know, I have often wondered what would happen, if the team is still playing well...Necas shows up. As I have said on a local board. somebody has to start telling the present Hronek that he isn't the old Hronek and clamp down on his risky play. That alone would make me happy.

Necas isn't showing up. Playing junior isn't going to help him.

Yeah KPin, he's really tearing it up over there... he's most likely hurt, playing just 12 games, but this is what boy wonder's stats are thus far this year. BTW they have played 30 games so far this year and once again, Martin Erat is the high scorer.

Playing against men in the Czech league at near 0.5 PPG, not a bad stat line. He can also play AHL but I'm sure the Canes don't want to burn a year off his ELC.

I'm sure he'd have a nice pretty stat line if he came to the OHL, but that isn't going to help him. He needs to play against grown men.

But in the reality of what is actually happening or will happen, this is neither here nor there.

KPin, you are another of the posters I enjoy the opinion of. Necas has been nothing more than a pipe dream of mine. Back to reality. I am of the belief that a budding 16yo will not be served playing at a lower level. Practice and working hard with the parent team and its older players is a better recipe then being the star at a lower level. Now on to your DiPietro thoughts!

I think DiPietro is a dream scenario now too. Based on what I've seen, it looks more and more like Windsor will want to hold onto him until next year unless someone wants to vastly over pay. So with that in mind, small moves would be best. Brock had a good suggestion of going for Krastenbergs (sp) from Oshawa.

Does anyone have any insight on Alex Turcotte l know he is committed to Wisconsin for 19-20. His numbers are good GP-24 G-11 A-14 P-25 for the US National U17 Team. Would the potential of the team being good for the next few years be enough to do what Jenkins did? Look at Blades stats he is on pace for 25 goals and 50 points. Sure hope he shows up next season it would be a good project for DD to accomplish in the summer.

We have 3- 2nds next draft keep the one from NB along with the 1st rd pick still gives us in the development for the future. So 2 very valuable picks for rebuilding teams.
Sorry something wrong .

Well said Finster. The future is bright but for when 3 or 4 yrs down the road? What can we do to show youngsters that Saginaw is a place you want to play and we are committed to rebuilding.

I am at this game right now, first thing DD has to do is get rid of Crawford!! Man he is a selfish , poor decision making, turnover specialist defence man!!!

He needs to go!

With Jenkins, Busdeker, Everett, Goldowski, Coskey are Americans and with an addition of maybe Alex Turcotte dont know much about him. Might have more Americans willing to sign in Saginaw? If the team makes the playoffs and young guys are getting drafted that can only help with players signing here. Say 3 guys are drafted this year thats how it starts? Players and parents want to see development of other young guys and an established winning record.

There are 63 Americans in the entire CHL. Saginaw has 8 of them. I'd have to say the US recruiting effort is on the right track.

I feel that quite a few of the OHL border teams ( Windsor, Sarnia, Flint, Saginaw, Sault Ste Marie, ) are making the correct inroads into the US player pool, paticularly out in the West Conference, as a possible budding career alternative to the USHL ( and the Collegiate route ).
