Too bad we will be trading our 2016 1st round pick at that trade deadline to stock up for a playoff run! :handclap:

Would definitely go if the draft was there!

Last draft was the Lindros draft right?

Vincent Lecavalier in 1998. I went to 2012 in Pittsburgh, going to 2015 in Fort Lauderdale (family lives there) and 2016 here. Pretty epic stretch.

To young to remember that Draft but glancing through a few things stand out.
1. Mike Rupp went top 10...
2. Lots of players still playing games from that draft.
3. Lots of good names on there that have retired or are tailing off as well.

Only source reporting this right now, so take it with a grain of salt:

http://www.allsportswny.com/buffalo-sabres-to-host-2016-nhl-entry-draft/
I'm still skeptical about this source, as I can't recall them breaking any news lately, but they appear to have credentials as the sports division of WBBZ-TV. Bob Koshinski, formerly of Empire Sports Network, is the VP of WBBZ and a subsequent tweet from them also read:

WBBZ-TV @WBBZ · 13h
Big @BuffaloSabres news from @allsportswny - Sabres to Host 2016 Entry Draft. More Tues. 7:30pm @WBBZ http://www.allsportswny.com/buffalo-sabres-to-host-2016-nhl-entry-draft/

...so I assume that could end up their YouTube channel after it airs.

By 2016, Murray will be a disembodied voice that merely proclaims "HIM."

I watched the video of the Reinhart selection last night. Devine is cheesing the whole time. Black is smiling. Everyone on stage looks happy. Except for Dwight - he looks legitimately angry and annoyed that he had to be there. Quite funny and - at this point - typical and par for the course.

I though next summer we would offer sheet a player and give up our 2016 1st and 3rd....

This may incrntive buffalo at the deadline to ask for 2016 picks instead of 2015 picks at the deadline.

I'm pretty sure the incentive to get 2016 picks over 2025 picks was already pretty strong. Who wants to wait 9 more years to get a draft pick?

The incentive for 2016 picks over 2015 picks already exists, because we have three 1sts in 2015 already. There's always a preference to spread picks out over drafts when all things are equal. All things aren't equal due to the strength of the 2015 draft, but it's hard to sit here and figure out how you then weigh those two factors. At some point you'd rather have a mid-teens or early-twenties 1st from the weaker draft rather than yet another in 2015.

It's not something you necessarily have great control over,
either. A playoff team is unlikely to trade its 2016 1st when it could trade its 2015 knowing what it is. You have to keep in mind that in the 2016 draft there will be at least three lottery-ized slots, so if you miss the playoffs you not only have a tiny chance at #1, but also fairer chances at #2 and #3... perhaps solid chances at #4 and #5 if they expand it that much. The dynamics between trading picks is going to be altered in some way. On the flip side, teams may not want to give up 2015 1sts knowing that if they wind up in the mid-teens they still could get a really good prospect whereas that may not be the case in 2016.
