The Flames have little to no control over the development of players in the CHL. The development system in the Finnish Elite league is regarded as being much better than the WHL.

The only place where the Flames do have allot control is to sign E2 and assign him to the AHL.

Yeah but in the Finnish league, who's to say he gets sufficient ice time with a bunch of grown men? I don't think a year in the WHL will kill a guy who is clearly a very raw player.

it was confirmed a while back when his Finnish team announced it. So I'm not so sure it was missed, rather it's news that was already out there just being confirmed by the other side.
