I'm actually a bit surprised by picking Prosvetov over Zhukov and also not having Filin there, but not like it's a big deal anyway.

Filin could be a lock, if a player is a 100% lock in Bragin's mind, he does not need to test him.

Just checked and Filin didn't play in last two MHL games, so probably he is indeed injured. Really hope he will be given a chance in the camp though.

This roster seems to be a solyanka, combined from: 1) solid candidates, who their KHL teams couldn't afford to let go for longer than this tournament (Kravtsov, Kovalenko, Morozov and maybe Denisenko); 2) some 1999 guys, who got their final chance to show something (Khabarov, Zaitsev etc.); 3) guys mostly for the future.

Miftakhov is definitely one for the future, not like we're too deep at GK next year.

Can anyone comment why Dmitri Rodionychev never gets an invite to the national team? The kid is massive and already has 83 professional games (KHL/VHL) under his belt.
Same goes for Matvei Zaseda. His numers are really impressive for his age.

Well, basically the only thing Yarik can bring to the table at this point is a comfortable environment for Kostin. More or less the same goes for Bitsadze, btw.

Well, in this league Artyom Ivanyuzhenkov is at 1.5 ppg currently, so why not. It's an OT though.

Rodionychev is a bit too slow, imo. Agree about Zaseda - strange that a right-handed sniper like him was never tested at least in Sochi.

He should thank his daddy for having a life in hockey. But you also can understand Larionov Sr. it's your son after all. Also the team is in Michigan, so someone did Igor a favor, since he is most certainly not a nobody in that state

I have an impression that for them it doesn't matter and they were sent there just to have some chemistry ready: Marchenko-Morozov-Podkolzin and Anokhovskiy together with Kovalenko and/or Denisenko are established lines already.

Nope, especialy because there are many a bit older /more experienced/mature underagers there this year. I think Denisenko and Kovalenko are both ahead of him on that depth chart and it is not said either of them will go, it's more likely they won't. All three get to play at 4 Nations. The coaching staff will go from there a lot.This is always the crucial last showcase before WJC: Russia-Canada-Series and the 4 Nations.

Bragin still can't PP. No game breaking talent up front as expected. A.Alexeev is a calm effective defenceman. Tarasov is also very calm and was rock solid. The rest of the guys were filling out spots more or less. It's one game obviously, but this team painfully lacks notable talent. They did play well although the penalties probabaly did cost them the game... again. They just can't be Kuznetsovs and Tarasenki, because they just aren't.

Most imprtantly to us Shen is a center who might end up centering the top line at WJC. Center depth as always. Nothing against Shen...
