Obviously this is contingent on Nashville going into complete rebuild mode - if they do, he's likely going into decline by the time they're competing again in 3-4 years. Does something like a package of a couple of unprotected Firsts, a prospect with high draft capital, and a top 4 defenseman on a soon to be expired contract that can likely be flipped for another couple of seconds get it done? Too much/too little?

It would take a kings ransom for Josi or Forsberg. Those 2 are here for the long haul even if it is a full rebuild. They will be the Veteran leadership. Josi also has a full NMC so it’s his choice too

Is something like 2 unprotected Firsts, Nick Leddy, Bode Wilde, and someone like Thomas Hickey to make the cap work a kings ransom? Josi played a few years at the beginning of his career under Trotz, and may be willing to waive to a team that’s been pretty good the last couple of years

No, it is not. Start with Dobson and Wahlstrom, keep going.

If we trade Josi it’ll be for picks and high end Offensive prospects. We have plethora of D prospects waiting for their shot and the upcoming draft is loaded with defense. 2 firsts would be a starter but high end offensive prospects would be the next need I think

We're not trading Josi or Forsberg, the price would be really high if we were to consider it.
So who would be on the block? And does Forsberg want to stay in Nashville? If you get the hint that he doesn’t, then you’re better off selling him with 1.5 years left rather than 1 or 1/4 left next season.

Arvidsson, Ekholm, Ellis can get 1sts and good prospects. Granlund might get a late first or a 2nd and a prospect.

We don't know if Forsberg wants to stay in Nashville, but he's young and good enough to go through a rebuild so we're not dealing him without a massive overpayment.

That’s what I figured.

if we could get arvidsson at a reasonable price I’d like him.

I think Josi is a guy who can still be valuable near the end of his career. So, unless he really wants to be on a competitive team, I'd ride out a rebuild with him insulating the young guys.

Every team in the league would make an offer.

Josi has an NMC. Based on past precedent, there would be a short list of acceptable destinations and the Preds would try to squeeze out the best deal they can from that group of suitors. A 30-31 team bidding war would not happen.
