Okay, lemme break it down.

Kap and Marino for Garland would be an awful trade. Pens are not deep on RD after Letang/Marino. Garland is not that much of a difference-maker where we would trade Kapanen (who has 5 less points than Garland on a down year) AND a cost-controlled 24 year old top-4 dman in Marino.

In what world does that make sense? Like others have said, Garland and Marino probably have similar value, but it’d still be a bad trade for the Pens.

Kapanen and Marino for Garland is too much cap going back to Vancouver. Kap and Garland are similiar players, but Kapanen is going to get paid this coming offseason, whereas Garland is cost-controlled for a while.

In all fairness, if you are making big money in Vancouver. Its a fantastic city to live in. Maybe he just doesn't like Bruce or Management? No signs of it, but rarely ever is.

So by that logic you also want to trade 95% of the team
because he is not a concern at his current salary.
