Wouldn't be surprised at all if at some point a trade with Zuc as our main cog going the other way, I think Gorts may just wait a little bit to see how Zibby and Buch progress in their recoveries. I just don't know if hell wanna take a guy like Zuc and trade him with 2 other top 9 players. At the end of the day, something will have to be done by the TDL bc the Defense surely wont hold up the whole way through if they want to go far.

Hope we get a top 4 defensemen by the playoffs. Idk how well this group would do when teams pour it on when down by a goal or two

Why are we blowing up the forward lines again?

Doesn't really make any difference if you leave the D the same. It's change for the sake of change.

Tell that to AV. Please. He is Tinkerman of hockey

Also I like the abbreviation RBT

At this point I'd be willing to explore options of trading away a large part of the d-corps. Keep McD, Clendening and Holden. See what else the others can bring. Might require some bargain bin hunting.

A few young players that the jury is still out on worth looking into is imo: Connor Carrick, Troy Stecher, Casey Nelson. The best would option would obviously be to acquire a legit top 4 RD, but I don't see how we'll pay for it without hurting other parts of the team.

Carrick would be an amazing pick up. I mentioned him a little while back. Don't see Toronto moving him, though.

Especially considering how bad their blueline is.

But still better than Rangers blueline? Haha.

Opportunity knocking

Hertl right knee injured, surgery out a couple of months, on LTIR, theoretically could be back w/rust, but there is a risk element
Hertl this and next season 3.0m per

Sharks are just over 467K over the cap

Nash 7.8 and could be extended and would be a great fit w/Thornton, Marleau

Since they just had to pony up huge for Burns, they'd likely accept some surrender in overall value to get some help, plus a bit of cap relief

so

Hertl 3.0 this year and next plus RFA + Boedker 4.0m per this yr and next 3 + cap dump Wingels, 2,475 expiring this year
total 9.475m
for
Nash 7.8 + Lindberg .650m = 8.45m
dif gives SJ 1.025 instant cap relief
NY also adds CONDITIONAL Rangers 2nd 2018 and 2019, depends upon how bad Hertl is/is not healthy and what his actual production is.

Sharks get useful asset now and cap relief w/Lindy in their future once healthy, salvaging Wingels likely jettisoned at some point otherwise

W Boedker is a fit for the Rangers at just over half price, and they have dibs on C Hertl

Now have ample F depth to try to obtain D upgrade, even if overpay nec
Move a structurally large cap hit into more manageable pieces

Because the current lines don't make sense. Pirri does not belong playing with Nash and Zucc. Fast does not belong playing with Stepan and Kreider. Grabner does not belong in the top 9, despite his good start with his finishing. Vesey does not belong on the fourth line, neither does Puempel.

We're blowing up the lines because while Buch/Zibby are out, we're down two Top 6 forwards. Lines need to hit the blender a bit.

I'm not 100% sold on AV thinking that today was a total win. His players, at least, know that today was all Hank and that they sucks (re the Staal quote post-game).

Gotta just rotate until you find something that really works. That's the beauty of having forward depth like this.

Eventually, Buch will be back and that will stabalize things a bit. Then Zibby comes back.

It's a lot easier to juggle lines if a Bottom 6 forward or two goes out with injury. It's not as easy when two Top 6 forwards go out.

Still think we should move Miller to center rather than moving up Pirri.

Fine. But if you're only mixing the forwards and not changing the D ever, regardless of play, we are just doing it for the sake of doing it.

Need to start holding the D accountable. Nearly all the big name forwards have been benched for parts of a game. He doesn't even change the D on back to backs.

I get rebuilding the D overnight is far fetched. But Clendening deserves a game. The RHD have all been poor.

He's been playing like one.

That's because he is playing against 1st line opponents. Want to see what Miller does against those same players? Prepare for some very disappointed performances by JT. My ideal line-up would be this:

Kreider-Stepan-Nash
Grabner-Hayes-Zuccarello
Vesey-Miller-Pirri
Fast-Jooris-Puempel
