Marte should of caught that ball.

It feels like the game is on the line anytime the Cubs get someone on base with Arrieta pitching.

Yeah, can't believe they gave Fowler a triple. It was a long run, but Marte got there and dropped a fly ball that a major leaguer should catch. Luckily, AJ pulled a Houdini to get out of the jam.

AJ is pitching his heart out through these first 5 innings.

The sixth inning is going to be a challenge for AJ with the middle of the Cubs order up.

I know Ramirez messed up those under hand throws to the pitcher, but other then that i think hes looked pretty good at first base.

I already like him over there better then Pedro.

How is Mercer some great defensive SS again?

Same for Cervelli. Neither one gets the ball out of their glove cleanly.

You can definitely see the difference in philosophy between these 2 teams. Starlin Castro has been a solid player for the Cubs in the past. Even so, he was really bad earlier in the year. Maddon used him sparingly because he didn't deserve to play. Jordy Mercer was really good last year but has been horrible this year. Hurdle bends over backwards to get him in the game at the expense of better players.

And no wonder... the Cubs have gained ground since Mercer came back. Can anybody explain to me how you don't play your best offensive lineup possible when you are facing a starter with a sub-2 era? Hurdle is maddening at this point.

Seems Maddon doesn't trust his bp. Second straight game he is trying to run his horse as far as he can.

Walker can't even get out of his own way.
