Nah, they have big issues that are all coming to a boiling point and this is the type of series to put them in a tailspin.

Marte stinks and is uninterested a lot of the time. Strikes out a ton, weak throws from the field and just unforgivable base running for a MLB'r.

McCutcheon was turning his season around, but maybe not.

Today may be the best we see from Locke all season and it won't be good enough to overcome the eight strikeouts from our batters.

WAY too many guys left on base recently, how many today? SO many in scoring position with less than two outs.

Pedro Alvarez flat out sucks.

Lots of things they have been getting away with due to the pitching staff. Better hope Lariano is OK.

They are gonna play the wildcard game and I'd like to know which left handed pitcher among our possible opponents you think they can beat?

His name is Andrew McCutchen.

As though things couldn't get worse after last night and then today, it sounds like Morel will be Mercer's replacement. Maybe temporary, but still sucks.

The pitching decisions really backfired this weekend. I said that I liked the aggressiveness, and it's definitely not fair to blame Hurdle for Liriano's sore neck, but there's really no reason that Burnett didn't pitch one of those games.

We definitely need a ship-righting game, hopefully in an almost uninteresting and especially uncontroversial style.

With Harrison and now possibly Mercer out for a while I think it's time for Huntington to step up to help this team. Either Ben Zobrist or Aramis Ramirez at 3b would allow Sean Rodriguez to go back to his late inning defensive specialist role while Kang covers short. I'd prefer Zobrist as he's capable of playing just about anywhere including first base (has done so in the past) when Harrison and Mercer return but he's gonna cost more than ARam.

I don't think they need a starting right fielder, maybe a platoon player with Polanco, but not somebody like Upton.

Agreed. Polanco looks like he's starting to develop some maturity both at the plate and in the field. I expect him to continue to improve during the second half needing only occasional bench time against a tough lefty. Again, Zobrist's versatility (switch hitter, IF and OF) would fit nicely with the Pirates' needs now and down the stretch.

Zobrist should be the Pirates number 1 target. Unfortunately, he's a lot of teams priority at the moment.

You're not doing that unless you're planning to unload Marte or Polanco. Which isn't happening.

I understand that, I was just stating that Morosi has started this rumor every season since the Pirates were contenders around the AS break. Nothing more.

BUT, I would take Upton over Marte but not in a straight swap. If they could get Upton, at a non Glasnow and Bell price, and then move Marte for an infield piece I wouldn't scoff at that.

morel has been OPSing 900 sine June. just sucks to be in this position. agree on upton not being worth the price and not really the player the bucs need at this point.

Sorry Winger, that was not pointed at you, just Morosi. It might have made sense two years ago, but not now.

It will be interesting to see how they handle this. Obviously, the need is for ASAP, but even though he took reps there, he's not even there for tonight's game, and you have to figure he will need at least a week of games there before they call him up.

We need one of these rando depth guys to go on a hot streak for two weeks. And/or Pedro to stop being an empty spot in the lineup.

It's strange but I thought the team would come out very focused in Game 1. We look just as bad as we left off in Milwaukee. I don't get it. We have 2 major wins that should define the season.... but we actually came out of it looking worse.

Zero sense made.

It would be cool to see Hansen get a 5-10 game stint while we look for an infielder in the trade market. Sean Rodriguez cannot be an everyday 3rd baseman for a team with division and pennant aspirations. Cmon ownership...

By the way Ventura is filthy
