+ an ownership stake, if 3/4 of the owners approve it

They pretty had to give him the world. ESPN was paying him 7 million a year for a lot less work & travel. The 10 years guarantees Davis wouldn't even think of firing him until the 9th year, not that he'd ever bee in danger of losing his job (Davis Jr thinks of him as Jesus).

He's also supposed to have Belichick powers when it comes to football ops.

The only issue now is owners are going to have to pay their elite coaches 10 million a year since Gruden got it (not saying he's an elite coach, but why would you get less than an inferior coach?). So Sean Payton is gettin' PAID next time he signs a contract.

Holy crap that is a ton of money/term for a guy that has a lot of questions about how good of a coach he actually is/will be now.

I guess it is a 3 way race between Hue, Marvin Lewis and Gruden to see who has done the best PR/Scam job in terms of pulling the wool over an owners eyes to convince them they are something their not.

That is ****ing lunacy.

This is a guy who very few actually understand why he isn't a good coach. He rode one of the all time best defenses to a super bowl win and then got to work hacking that team to pieces in the years following. That was Dungy's team and everyone knows it.

And then to give him a 10 year deal? At almost 100 million? What the **** are you doing?

Man.... that's the type of deal that literally will only look good in retrospect if he brings at least a couple Super Bowls home to Oakland.... er..... Vegas.

Like I said before no out of work coach has done more to rehab his image like Gruden.

Love Gruden's QB Camp :sarcasm:

HC is a volatile position and the HC-upper management/owner relationship can go really sour really quickly. This deal seems absolutely ridiculous.

They are going to hire a v.p. and another young executive of Gruden's choosing. So they are already neutralizing McKenzie.

Terrible contract.

Considering the last two drafts this isn't the worst thing in the world. The only starter from them is Karl Joseph.
