Predictions for Hawks' Off Season Moves

As a fan-base, we've been blessed with great times and long playoff runs the last several years. Is anybody else excited/curious about what moves Stan is going to make this off-season?

Obviously we paid a heavy price to bring in Ladd that didn't work out and will cost us a 1st round pick this year. And last year's trade of Sharp/Johns looked awful at the time (and even more so now).

With limited cap room, and an expansion draft looming in the near future, make your predictions on what direction you think the Hawks will move in.
Do they finally bring in some young blood that has been awaiting for an opportunity? Is there another Euro signing on the horizon?

My predictions: Ladd signs for around $4 million on a one year deal and the Hawks let Shaw walk to free agency. McNeill (signs a 1 year RFA deal for sub-$1 million) and Hartman make the team as forwards, and Pokka makes the roster straight out of training camp. Bickell plays out the final year of his contract in Rockford

For fun, my 2017/2018 Hawks, assuming 75m cap and Hossa on LTIR. Seems conservative re: cap. TT gets Leddy type bridge. Panarin gets the core treatment.

Hossa missed couple of weeks for pretty common knee injury in actual season, has played all 100+ games in the season before and was probably best Hawks forward in recent short post season. You guys who are putting him on LTIR repeatly because of his back injury he had 7 years ago are wasting your time imo.

LTIR not as stringent as made out to be. Robidas, Bolland, Horton, have they even tried to come back? Or have they agreed that it's best for both parties to pay them not to show up to the rink every day. I think Hawks will avoid recap penalties, which are a farce to begin with.

Finally over the disappointing loss in Game 7. Big decisions need to be made this off season.

I think Hossa will be LTIRed eventually, but it sure won't be next season. He's still effective and he's given no indication he has any interest in wanting to hang up his skates.

Finally over the disappointing loss in Game 7. Big decisions need to be made this off season.

You make decisions based on their middling possession play and flat out bad 5v5 goal differential all season (despite Vezina caliber goaltending behind them), not losing a game 7 to a good team that was statistically better all season. That kind of reactionary thinking would be terrible.

I don't expect a lot of changes this summer. They've already given away their better draft picks, and there's no capspace to add anything significant.

The last memory of shaw as a hawk will him being ejected and suspended for a homophobic slur. Sad to see, but I think he's gone.

I just hope bickell is somehow out of here.

Ari/Chi trade at draft

Bickell + Shaw (RFA rights) + Pokka for Richardson + Sekac (RFA rights)

Stanley's big move will be another blunder

You are calling a move that Stan hasn't even MADE and isn't even RUMORED a blunder. Unbelievable.

Crawford for early access to Jonas Hiller's contract negotiations.

Ugh, Stan I can't believe you would do something like that!!! The team is screwed now.

This is a prediction thread is it not? So why are you taking issue with a prediction being made?

And given his horrendous performance last summer in which every trade was as lopsided as one I listed there is nothing outlandish with my dire prediction

It wouldn't be an issue if it were tounge in cheek, but it's not.

Again, please provide us a viable alternative to Bowman and make a strong case for it.

For Saad - we got a 2C that Kane needed and a promising prospect. Q didn't like Dano. That isn't Stan's fault.
The Sharp trade was bad. None of us like it. But he got an NHL D and Garbutt back. Garbutt was not bad in his time here. Daley should have been given more of a chance than he was.

Stan has done what he can with us so close to the cap. He could be so much worse. Can't you just sit back and realize how lucky we are to have this team? No GM gets an A+ on every single move they make. But Stan has done a pretty good job.

We got a #3C who performed about on par with his average career and continues to struggle with faceoffs.... Anisimov did nothing to warrant much praise being carried by best RW and best rookie in NHL. As for Dano it was Stanley who gave him away ,, Not Q.. If Stanley actually believed he was quality prospect he wouldn't have been so quick to give him away

Sharp/Johns trade was not bad ,, It was an abomination that will haunt organization for years. Daley did not play well enough to warrant more "Chances" and it was him not Q that quit on this team and demanded out ,, Garbutt was a 4th liner/13F and played like one in Chicago. He was redundant with Shaw on roster and was inferior in every aspect of game of hockey... Stanley blew it

Made the Sharp/Johns giveaway worse by trading Daley for Scuderi and then having to eat cap next season just to dump Scuderi. If Daley was so wonderful a player Stanley should have certainly gotten more then a horrendous cap dump for him!

Versteeg trade was joke and giving away Steeger + Nordstrom + 3rd for nothing was all a result of Stanley's piss poor cap management and is 100% on him just like other miserable moves last offseason

Stanley has put team in horrid cap position ,, You don't get credit for minimizing the damage your mistakes make because guess what we already have wasted cap space/roster spots because of Stanley and now are saddled with that joke of Seabrook contract to drag down team for next 8 years

The Hawks are not in a horrid cap situation. They can easily clear >10m in cap going into next season. Let's stop with the doom and gloom.

-Anisimov's game allows Kane and Panarin to do what they do, he contributed to so many goals that didn't show up on the stat lines. This has been so well discussed.
-While the Sharp/Johns trade sucked, how will it "haunt the organization for years"?
-Daley quit? Source?
-Garbutt was cheap depth, nothing wrong with that
-I wasn't a fan of the Daley return, but every team knew Daley had no value to Chicago at that point
-The Versteeg trade was made to sign Kruger, a valuable member to the team
-The cap situation is a product of winning, how can you possibly blame Bowman for that? Who would you send away?
-Also, your viable Bowman alternative please?
