Now that the roster is set, it's that time of year for us to be overly optimistic and predict the goals / points. If you want to just predict one or the other, that's fine.

I also added a poll for total goals scored. Keep in mind, the Canes were 20th in the NHL in goals scored and scored 212 goals last year. Pittsburgh was the best at 278. To get into the top 10 last year, the Canes would have needed to score 239.

This assumes everyone is healthy, which they won't be. It adds up to 251 total (I think). There will be some injuries though so the team won't hit 251, but I do think they'll be 240ish range overall.

Curiously, I went back and looked and the most goals a team scored since the 04/05 lockout was 313 by the 09/10 Caps.

Williams will score less than 45 points this year.

He scored 52 and 48 on the best regular season team in the league the last two years.

If he's our leading scorer we are in major trouble.

i had to toss mine out cause i had 521 total points in just 10 players lol. my top 3 were Skinner Aho and Lindholm (all with 60+) Skinner with 40 goals and 75 points Aho 30 Goals 65 points Lindholm 15 Goals 60 Points. to me that seems truly possible for those 3. my defense i have Hanifin and Slavin around the 40 range and Faulk in the 50's. Pesce 25 TVR 15 and Flurey 10.

Frankly, all of these, including mine, are probably a bit optimistic. Although with some increased PP's early on in the season, the league talent "slightly" more watered down with Vegas now in the mix, and the improved talent on the team, scoring 28 more goals (to hit 240) isn't totally out to lunch.

I feel like they all look optimistic because none of us are accounting for injuries in our predictions, which is really hard to predict. So they're all gonna look high. Most likely we're going to lose goals somewhere from an injury from someone throughout the season.

Probably a bit optimistic on the defense. Total 231.

Score 231, give up ~220, and slide into the playoffs with ease.

I predicted 172 for the forwards (didn't predict defense) and the forwards scored 178 last year so overall not bad. I didn't account for injuries, but I also didn't account for guys coming from the AHL in the numbers, so those were a wash. I was way off on my Skinner and Aho predictions though. Slightly over positive on most other guys, but my predictions for Skinner and Aho were a big swing and miss.
