Holtby

16 overall + JTC gets traded for Holtby. Maybe even Price and his crazy contract. Sounds crazy but I could see Sakic looking to fix that position long term.

For the first time in a while, I don't have an honest idea what to expect for a lot of the roster next season. There's holes I think Joe should be real aggressive in trying to fill if he wants the team to keep moving forward (looking at you, 2C).

This will be a thread worth keeping an eye on over the course of the off-season.

Like as much as I think the Avs should go after Stastny, because I believe he's a perfect fit for that 2C spot AND we already know he meshes well in that locker room (at least w/ the important parts of it--Lando, MacK, and EJ), I'm not sure Joe will. And I think that's a mistake. In my view it's better to address that hole NOW and if somehow one of Jost/Kamenev/Kerfoot/Compher show they're 2C material (something that none of them really came close to doing last year, and Jost may be a better fit on the wing in the NHL), then that's a *good* problem to have and you deal with it if it comes. Not addressing it and just hoping it all works out is, as I've said before, piss-poor roster building and team management.

Agree with RL, its gonna be real hard to predict the lineup. Defense seems pretty much set (though I wont be shocked if Timmins forces his way into the lineup) but the forwards are just too hard to set right now. Can't wait to see what Joe does.

Varlamov
Francouz + UFA

I don’t think I’m far off on the defense and goalies. I do think the Avs bring in a fringey back up type as insurance, maybe Hutchinson of Winnipeg.

As for the forwards, I can only list how I’d do it. I’d bring back Comeau, but I think that line needs to have its role shrink a bit as time moves on.

I’d also bring in two top six scoring forwards. Secondary scoring is the team’s glaring weakness; the thing which almost caused them to miss the playoffs, and held them back from beating Nashville in a competitive series.

Also I wouldn’t be shocked to see Colorado ship out a forward this off-season. Colin Wilson doesn’t have a defined role, and I could see Kerfoot or Andrightto moved if Sakic goes heavy bringing in forwards.

It's too early to talk about this now, IMO. Too many things up in the air. Free agency isn't even close yet, and the draft is when trades tend to heat up after year-end meetings are over. Ask me again on July 3.

If we move a tweener forward, it won’t be Kerfoot. We just signed him a year ago as a UFA coming out of college. He had a 43 point season. Would send a terrible message trading him a year after convincing him to join the organization. From the tweeners (Jost/Kerfoot/Compher/Andrighetto), Kerf and Jost are very unlikely to go. Compher could go, but it would likely be Sven.

My real concern is: Why is Sergei Boikov the #1D? Why is Yakupov still on the team? Where did Tyson Jost and JT Compher go? Why is Zadorov playing on the Right side? Why is Spencer Martin the back up goalie? Who is Bourgue? Why is AJ Greer the 2nd line LW.

And yeah, I guess another question would be why in the sweet f*** would we be trading Landeskog?

Hoping for this opening night. Eagles one is about 99% guesswork. Avs one is only about, like, 90.

Avalanche:
Landeskog - MacKinnon - Rantanen
Jost - Stastny - Andrighetto
Kerfoot - Soderberg - Wilson
Nieto - Kamenev - Compher
Bourque (Toninato?)

Zadorov - Johnson
Nemeth - Barrie
Girard - Barberio
Alt, Lindholm

Varlamov
Bernier or Francouz

Eagles:
Aggozzino - Beaudin - Greer
Lewis - Toninato - Shvyryov
??? - Nantel - ???
Barron - Dickinson - ???

Warsofsky - Meloche
Graves - Timmins
Geertsen - ???

No idea on goalies. Maybe the Hamburglar stays...?

I'm guessing not every guy there stays on the Eagles. Surely a couple end up on the yet-unknown ECHL affiliate.

I honestly thought "Big Transfer" was a nickname for Landeskog...
