Points per $

I was wondering, has anyone taken the time and effort to make a "point per $"-standing? Would be interesting to see dollars spent translated into points. I'm guessing teams like Buffalo Sabres aren't doing too well, spending to the cap (and beyond) with only four wins. Washington Capitals probably not doing to good either.

Interesting idea. It would probably be best if fans of individual teams submit information that can then be compiled. Seems like that would be the easiest. I'm at work, but if I get time I'll give some info for the Preds.

Definitely easier. I couldn't get cap geek's archive to actually work, so I used numbers pulled from USA Today. They listed actual salaries and not cap hits.

2011-2012 Nashville Predators Pay Roll (not including Radulov) was $54,014,000 (or close). They had 104 points in the standings at the end of the regular season. That is just over $519,365 per point in the standings.

It's legit. But keep in mind they will need to re-sign Pietrangelo, Shattenkirk and Berglund as well as a couple of other RFA's. They will have no trouble fitting the team whole under the new cap, though.
