Any outrage over the Bonino trade isn’t in a vacuum. It’s overall frustration at Pittsburgh management coming to a head with the moves over the past week being a water shed moment in outrage for the fan base. A good deal of the fan base is in scorched earth emotion over anything and everything Hextall/Burke related.

Massive incompetence over an expiring contract and a 5th and 7th round pick is overstating the issue. Even in the worst possible outlook to this reported deal, it can be chalked up to a GM doing a veteran on his last legs a favor. They're at worst getting a 7th round pick for someone who probably does not belong on a playoff team. I don't see the problem here.

Someone made a good point. Every bad trade that Grier has made has been written off as him doing someone a favor. Maybe Grier is just a bad trader.

I think Bonino makes our bottom 6 better. I'm concerned about his skating but if he's playing with Poehling and/or Archibald speed overall is not going to be an issue.

Id say actually its just that DOC is the only waiver exempt player, so it's a paper move to free a little space to make moves today. Fully expect someone else would go down to get DOC back up tomorrow.

Boston is 2-0 vs the Pens, one of those being the outdoor game where Jarry left like 5 minutes into the game with injury, and the other was the 6-5 overtime win in November.

Carolina is 4-0 vs the Pens, but really the officiating in all of those games was really terrible both ways and the series should be 2-2. Everyone of those 4 games was a 1 goal game, with two going to overtime.

Like a single bounce either way and these series results could be flipped in the Pens favor.
