Ryan Howard ended his career running out the grounder that ended the Phillies playoffs and I don't remember any sympathy.

Howard played parts of 5 seasons after that injury lol

He didn't end his career, but that moment did effectively signify the end of the Phillies window as contenders.

It kinda did though. Everyone knows he was never the same after that.

Right, it ended his prime and he was never the same, but it's just not accurate to say it ended his career considering he drove in 330 runs after that injury lol.

What ended Howard's career was being stubborn.
At his best he used the power alley in left center, as he aged he became more of a dead pull hitter, and pitchers exploited that.
Compare to Thome as he aged, both LH power hitters with limited athleticism, but Thome was more disciplined as a hitter.

You're right. The moment is synonymous with the end of that team's reign, but it's overdramatic and inaccurate to say it ended his career.

On the contrary, something not overdramatic to say is f*** the Mets

Im glad he got paid and it was such a bizarre way to get injured. Though everyone knew when they signed that contract it wouldnt end well. never does for a reliever.
