Could one of you great baseball minds explain to me how having a .180 hitter lead off works? And one that's a lunk head and has below average speed.

You want him batting lead off so that he get's as many chances as possible to get his average up.:sarcasm:

I think the grid today is pretty easy but the average score would tell you it isnt. Easier than last few days.

Because what matters isn't BA but OBP and Schwarber is 2nd in the league in walks, and has an OPS > .900 leading off.

But he's 89th in league OBP, and 4th on the Phils. Using OBP, wouldn't Stott or Marsh be better leading off? At least they can run and aren't brain dead.
Schwarber hits much better leading off (and in June).
Stott and Marsh may be a case of not wanting to put too much pressure on young hitters, though I think eventually both will move up the lineup.
They need to get Harper on the field at 1B, b/c Schwarber should be the full-time DH, he's that bad of a fielder.

Phillies should not buy this year, they're in a situation where they could be much better next year.
McGarry, Abel and Painter will be much closer to pitching in the majors, and Muzzioti, Rojas, Wilson and De La Cruz to playing in the Show.
I'd be looking to trade Schwarber, move Castellanos to DH, keep Harper at 1B, let Hopkins walk and maybe look to sign a pitcher to replace Nola and a 3B and trade Bohm.

Also how does Bret Saberhagen pitch 260 innings, win a Cy Young, and not K 200?

Thought of Milton Bradley too late. Wonder what he went for. Loved that guy.

My fantasy baseball middle infield is Stott, Henderson and De La Cruz...imagine if that was real life
Westburg just got the call for the O’s. Their infield is going to ridiculous when Holliday comes up. Gunnar, Holliday and Westburg are all legit high ceiling players
