Does Eller pk? Is he more of a 3c or high end 4c?
Yes and he's probably better suited as a 4th line PK specialist at this point on an actual good team. With some spot duty as he did have some hot streaks of 4-5 games where his offense was there. Pens did use him on the PP a decent amount, but that says a lot more about the Pens PP than it does his abilities.

Ducks could really use an upgrade there. Maybe lundestrom straight up. Still young with upside while the Ducks get more proven player.

Ottawa needs players like Joseph desperately. Smith would be a last ditch secondary scoring acquisition, a worst case scenario.

Someone asked about trading Smith for Joseph, what do you want me to say?

By the way, I'm pretty sure we debated Joseph this summer. I said many, many times that talk of him being dumped with serious assets was silly and wouldn't happen. And you know what? He wasn't a cap dump. Instead, he had a very good season as a middle 6, all-situations, extremely consistent winger while earning half of what Smith does and scoring just as much...

Dorion doesn't work here anymore. Joseph is probably one of the last guys who Staois will make available. If Pittsburgh wants him, it will take an asset we know will give at least a few years of good middle 6 play (+ can't be more expensive than Joseph).
Yeah, see that's fine. That's a decent reply. I'm not going to argue necessarily with what you are saying. If the trade isn't a good fit, that's fine. This response is a far cry above:

"If you guys retained 50% and added a significant plus, even then its probably a no. Joseph isn't available outside of an insane overpayment and Smith is mildly interesting at best."

Your first reply was just asinine. Your second one was aggressive but at least had a discernable, nonbunshole context to it.

My first reply is exactly true. I was asked a question and I answered it. I can get into all the reasons why it's the case, but that didn't seem necessary.

I mean, he was fine as a 3C. D zone heavy starts, PK, chipped in on offense. He's just not a plus player in the sense that he could be a poor man's 2C if needed. He's a great 4C, average 3C. Matt Cullen type, at this point in his career.

I would do that trade with the Ducks. Lunderstrom for Eller. The pens get a younger player, and the Ducks with their depth in young centerman get a mentor for this coming season.

Depending on how teams like Colorado, LA and Toronto do this playoffs there could absolutely be a demand for strong goaltending this summer. So there is probably a market for Jarry.

Rakell puts up points but due to age, term, and injury history he's about as movable as Kadri.

Smith has value, especially if Pittsburgh retains

Graves is probably currently sitting in negative value territory.

The rest are all depth players

I'd be open to Graves and Reilly Smith for the Canucks, under the right circumstances.

Mostly...if all the UFA defencemen for the Canucks price themselves into that Graves sort of bracket...i'd be open to the idea.

And if there's some sort of other salary considerations going on with Smith for the last year of his deal.

I'm not seeing really any sort of fits here that would make sense. Graves for Soucy kinda makes some sense, if you view Graves as more of a 2nd pair D and Soucy as a 3rd pair D.

I don't see a Smith trade that makes sense. Garland is too much from the Canucks and I'd hate Smith for Mikheyev from the Penguins POV.

Yeah. There's probably not a good fit there. And again, it'd be contingent on certain things falling kinda poorly for the Canucks in the offseason anyway...to even get to the point where it's viable from that end. But... :dunno:
