Apologies if language offends but this sums up my thoughts on Nemeth…

What's it going to take to dump the contract? It took a 2nd to dump $5.7 million ($3.2 million in actual dollars since he had a bonus paid out) of Staal with 1 year left. Nemeth has 2 years at $2.5 million per ($6 million in actual dollars) left.

Was just playing with the buyout calculator on cap friendly. Can anyone explain why the cap hit would be $1MM this season, nothing next season, and then $1MM for the following 2. I get 2/3 spread out over double the years, which is $4MM over 4. But why no cap hit for 2023-24?

Because the contract is backloaded.

No way anyone trades for Nemeth? A late rd pick in return? He got traded at the deadline in 2021.

He didn't have two years and $5 million left on his contract in 2021. It's possible he gets traded, but I think it's more likely he's traded with something than for something.

Why not keep him around next year? We need a 7th Dman, what if this season was an exception and he returns to norm next season?

I hated this signing immediately. So brain dead. 1 year would have been fine but we are saddled with this BS. Watch them buy him out or send assets to Arizona to dump his salary and then go sign someone else to a similarly brain dead contract.

I think the Rangers can get a team like Chicago to bite on him for a pick. He’d help their tank for Bedard
