I watched almost every game of his with the Jets. I can say without a doubt, calling him at best net neutral, would be very VERY generous.
And yet, the results are all that matter. What you see, or what you say about Laine’s game, does not in the context of measurable scoring stats. What’s so hard to understand about net results? To score more than getting scored on while on the ice?

Yeah he score. Yet he was net neutral at best.
All he did was score goals. He was lazy skating and did many lunch defence. Cost the Jets as much as he helped.
Hence neutral. Not sure how hard that is to understand.

You don’t seem to grasp the concept of what ”net” means in this case, and maybe not even what decides the winner in icehockey. It’s the team that scores more than the opponent that wins, and Patrik Laine contributed to more goals for than against and was a top player on his team in that category. You may not have liked how he looked out there while he was doing it for the Jets, but that doesn’t change the fact that Laine was a net positive for the majority of his time on the Jets.

What statistic are you using to assess that Laine was a “net positive” for the Jets?
