He's a few years younger than Savard. Not exactly the age group we're looking to add. Particularly for a guy who has a lot of years left in a period his body should be expected to break down.
St. Louis also aren't really capable of blowing it up with their core. Their system doesn't have a new core or replacements in it already and they have a lot of guys who still have productive years left and no real pending free agents. Guys like Schenn, Hayes, and Saad who are declining aren't moveable right now. Their system is pretty empty too. Habs 6th rounder Eriksson is having a better year than Stenberg who they took in the first round. Dvorsky couldn't crack his European team so downgraded to the OHL. Bolduc isn't anything to write home about. They have a few good secondary players in there. Why then would they break up their core with no replacements in sight and no path forward? If they're scorched earth you'd think they'd start with Kyrou and Thomas. They're not going to sell just because they're not in a playoff spot. They can't commit to a rebuild with their current structure.
