Exactly. The only thing about Parayko that’s “top pairing” is his contract. It’s certainly not his offensive play and it’s definitely not his defensive play.

And there’s still FIVE (5) more years remaining on his contract after this season. Parayko has one of the WORST contracts in the league.

This is the type of nonsensical acquisition that Kyle Dumbass would make.

Also incorrect. There’s SIX (6) years remaining on the Parayko boat anchor. Incidentally, the Athletic ranked his deal as the second worst contract in the NHL behind only Seth Jones. It’s mind boggling who anyone would be so interested in acquiring this disaster.

True, although San Jose knows they are in a full blow it up, burn it to the ground rebuild. They likely figure that they won't be competitive until 5-6 years from now and the 17% won't impact them that much. I don't think St. Louis is planning on being in the same situation, they are attempting to retool on the fly and remain competitive each season.
