Its not new. Leonsis isnt gonna trade the man who puts people into his arena, nor would 99 percent of caps fans allow it

It's the same around the league, pens wont trade crosby, kings wont trade doughty etc

And then add onto the fact that caps won't trade ovechkin to any metro team so that eliminates 7 teams and then he has his own teams that he rejects

So unless ovechkin and the caps have overlapping no trade teams, that leaves only 14 teams on where he can go

There is a very strong likelihood that as constructed the best thing Wsh gets from this is 9th overall in 2018. As a Caps fan I wouldn't trade Ovechkin for 9th overall. I'd say today it's debatable that Puljujaarvi AND 9th overall will have the same impact for the Caps as Ovi will for the remainder of his career.
