A first impression of a player is made by a scout who has never seen that player play before. Our HEO U18 players do not get out of the HEO area much so the U18 players could be making a first impression on many scouts.
Seen several if not all Director of Player Personnel and GMS of OHL teams from Sept to the break.

You used my post to respond .But your comment to my post has nothing to do with my post. Where is one to go from this? You do not understand first impressions? You are ...
On a completely different note. You say you have seen several if not all Director of Player Personnel and GMS of OHL teams from Sept to the break. Were? Not in Ottawa. They have not all been here? How many U18 games have you seen this year? Someone struggles with the truth...

The tournament teams have left off what a lot of people think are 2 of the best players in the HEO area. They play at CIH. Is there any good reason?

As hockey academies, CIHA and OHA play in the League, but their players are not part of the HEO Midget AAA Association. Perhaps that had something to do with it. Some AA League All-Star teams include American players, but the Marlies and Peterborough may have been more restrictive.

It might be simpler than that. Ask yourself, how much money do CIHA and OHA players contribute to the CCHL.

No those parents pay the school 25k to 45k to play in the same league it costs $5600 for Midget Parents.

Why were the two CIH players not allowed to participate in the two tournaments? Some good players at the 00 and 01 age groups from the schools also.

Great to see that all 4 teams from the HEO area won their division's and are headed to the playoffs. Its amazing what are kids can do when playing in their own age groups. Congratulations to the boys and good luck today.

Apples and oranges. They get room and board, private school education, etc.. And it's their choice. What choice does an Ottawa kid have other than not play.

And anyway, thanks for asking the question no one asked.

How about answer the one asked for a change. Why were those kids from the academies who are playing in this league not allowed to participate in the league all star team ?

At the Peterborough Tournament this weekend all four HEO area teams won their division in their own age group.
Final results: One HEO area team team from each age group in the finals
2000 and 2001 Midget age group, Ottawa Capitals won the tournament
2002 age group, Ottawa Capitals Ottawa Capitals won the tournament
This is a huge accomplishment for the HEO area kids. Congratulations to the players and coaches. Just more proof that HEO Minor needs to drop the U 18 league and get back to a two tier Midget system of Minor Midget and Midget not run by junior hockey.

Great to see the All Star Teams winning the tourney. Great proof of the development the U18 is providing these young men. Great job by the coaches and players. Congrats

What is the proof? Players played in u18AAA all season then played together for one weekend proves they were still developing all year.

So you would rather see players for 4 teams develop instead of 12? If this was case, Jack Quinn may never had his chance to prove himself and look what he is doing now. Plain and simple the old politics would have squashed his chance. He won’t be last late bloomer coming out of u18AAA.

There are a few late bloomers playing in CCHL now that probably never would have had opportunity if it wasn’t for u18AAA.

In my opinion, the addition of these tournament teams is what was needed for the Minor Midget players for exposure to OHL. Maybe even add an early bird tournament in future or take a team to USA for NCAA exposure.

Another thing I would like to see is raise the 5 max games for minor Midget in CCHL to 10. Why limit games when kid is ready to play that level, Barnes and Peterson are good examples this year.

B1 Kids playing in their own age group against other teams of the same age group will develop quicker.
B2 Who? What is a late bloomer? Certainly not 17 year olds the league has a quota on them.

IMO Junior hockey should not be involved on Minor hockey.
When was the last published u18 budget? Somebody is making money and the kids do not get a chance to play in the CCHL. Threes years in to this mess and the number of HEO area players in the CCHL has gone down every year. Before U18 49% of the players in the CCHL were from HEO, the percentage has dropped every year and this year it is down to 41%. The U18 league is about making money for the CCHL not about development.
A CCHL francize has increased in value since the start of U 18. Why?

If its not about development...how did the All Star Teams come together? How did they win....seems like the boys winning both divisions proves that the u18 model is Working? Is winning not a measuring stick for success or development?

Winning is not development. Development should be preparing the players to play at the next level and above but most HEO area kids will never get a chance.

Only Joey Warywoda plays in Carleton Place CCHL. Try again. You are making shit up. The quality of hockey in the U18 league hinders development. You know it, that's why your CCHL team has so many non HEO area players.

Yes there are many examples but just used one to prove my point. I would hate to make a list and leave players out that benefited from u18AAA.

So the weekend in Peterborough was not successful?

Not sure, When you take the cream of the crop from the area they should blow club teams away. They ended up with 2 of the 4 in the finals and beat the 22nd and 29th ranked teams by 1 goal.Bantam club teams from the area did a better job last year...The exposure and playing against kids their own age was a success I think.
