Don't like losing Valbuena but the trade makes sense. Exchange a high OBP infielder where you have a surplus for a high OBP outfielder which you need

The starting lineup is really coming into focus, the rotation is still a bit weak but they could crack .500 this year.

It's one of the better top 3s in the game just because of those two.

It's an average to above average rotation.

I like Valbuena a lot but dealing from strength to fill a weakness is pretty standard value. The uptick from Coghlan to Fowler is larger than the temporary decrease that a temporary void - if any void - at 3B brings.

I got slack when I said they didn't look that impressive early in the year. All those things I was worrying about are starting to bite them in the ass. They simply just aren't very good right now.

No Noah/Dunleavy, Butler slowing down offensively, Rose missing a million 3s, Mirotic making terrible decision after terrible decision, etc.

They'll be there when it matters.
