Why can't he sing until July 1? Is that a new CBA rule?

It's always been like that, the old and new CBA. Pending UFA's can't sign extensions until July 1, the year before they turn UFA.

I didn't look overly hard, but I don't see anything about that in the CBA.

I knew every Leafs fan were sure Tavares wanted out of LI, but never saw a media member actually report that. Not sure if that means that leaf fans were just following Dreger's lead...Or Dreger is just a hopeful fanboy like that rest of that city.

I think the term for Dreger's article is clickbait.

He probably knew his article was a pile of crap but he wrote it to get tons of hits from Leaf's fans. It should be noted he really wasn't saying Tavares wanted to leave he was just having mindless speculation. It was pretty bad journalism never the less. If Tavares was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan instead of just outside of the GTA(Greater Toronto Area) this wouldn't even have been an article.
