Savard is definitely better than Kulak but that is not even the debate as he is right handed and is also better than all of Ceci, Stetcher and Desharnais.

Given the terrible returns that we are seeing, he is not worth a first but you won't get him for a 2nd imo as Hughes would rather keep him than to take back a late 2nd which is statistically a low percentage pick. The Oilers don't know how to win playoff games and their D is woefully equipped to do so on the 3rd pairing and half of the 2nd pairing. Savard is a clear upgrade on any Oiler dman not named Nurse, Ekholm or Bouchard.......even in Bouchard's case Savard is a much better defender if you ignore Bouchard's value to the PP (not saying that you should ignore this)

I'm not sold on Savard being better than Desharnais. Desharnais is a guy most fans of other teams shouldn't try to evaluate as he has grown a lot in the last year. If we are making a move for a RD it needs to be an actual top 4 RD. Not a guy who used to be top 4 and blocks shots. We aren't trading for reputation, we need a guy who can actually handle the top 4 playoff minutes.

The Oilers have only lost to the cup champions the past two years. Save the "Oilers don't know how to win playoff games" garbage.
