Let the Age of Analytics come forth!
He was working for Suncor too so maybe he was getting a very good pay cheque already. With how long he's been freelancing this type of work for everyone and winning the hack-a-thon a few years back for the team, how did it take this long to hire him?
It's probably largely goodHFoilers, tell me how I should feel?
I trust Jackson on this. He's been involved with stats for a very long time and understand them well.HFoilers, tell me how I should feel?

So I think he'd know what to be looking for in hiring this position. Add that Parkatti has been doing this for years in the hockey world as well with a big company like Suncor and I only see positives

I'm just floored as Jackson literally just said yesterday there will be an announcement on analytics soon. Was curious what soon meant to me as it seems rather quickSeems like a positive step forward to me.
Lol this is quite funny
Congratulations to Michael Parkatti
Copper & Blue contributor Michael Parkatti has won the Oilers Hackathon 2.0!www.coppernblue.com
They've been chatting about this on OilersNow for a month or so. Think there was a processI'm just floored as Jackson literally just said yesterday there will be an announcement on analytics soon. Was curious what soon meant to me as it seems rather quick
All starts at the top and with Jackson seeing how useful they are you just knew it was a matter of time before he brought this in.Like the hire...very sharp dude.
Really encouraging to see this team commit to Analytics.
Oddly enough they go to a guy that maybe should've been given a larger role 10 years ago when he won a competition with the Oilers. Then again MacTavish had just taken the job and who knows what he was worried aboutThey've been chatting about this on OilersNow for a month or so. Think there was a process
I'll have to spend time when I have a chance going through it. Something I was pushing for with a guy like Woodley who does intense goalie tracking, that can really make a team's job a lot easier if you spend some time understanding the dataHis page for evaluating goaltending talent is real interesting:
