Oilers Darkening blue to navy for jerseys next year

Not really thread worthy so I will ask here. 18-19 is the 40th anniversary for the Oilers joining the NHL. Is there any indication of a patch for next season?

I'd rather wait for the '22-'23 season for a 50th anniversary patch.

the "Blue and white era" Oilers jerseys remind me of the Shayne Corson, Steven Rice Louie DeBrusk-era Oilers, probably cause I'm too young for the Dynasty..

then we lost more games when they brought them back in 2010...

I love the orange home jersey's, but last year's home jerseys with the royal blue and orange
it's my 2nd favorite only to the Ryan Smyth-era "copper and blue rigger" jersey's...those were beauties

I remember reading somewhere the Edmonton WHA team was originally going to have green and gold as a colour scheme, but the name and colours were part of Bill Hunter's scheme to get Gulf Oil money (not Hughes).

Wouldn't mind it. Was thinking Green as the dominant colour though.

The Oil drop in Gold would be somewhat fitting as well. Green and Gold also has a lot of history in the Edmonton sports scene.

I know that a few of the media guys have suggested royal blue could be making a return, but I am wondering if this could be the template for a new Oilers third? New, darker colours, and no shoulder yoke like the 2000s era sweaters. Maybe we see the return of the "Rigger" shoulder patch?

My son has the hoodie that looks a lot like that. I kinda like it. Would like shoulder patches too though.

yeah that would be fine IMO.

I like that color scheme a lot, but I'd rather they just put those colors onto the traditional striping pattern. I think that'd be a fantastic look.

I agree with you. Those jerseys are horrendous. They look like those cheap Canadian Tire/Walmart NHL "jerseys" for kids
