Hopefully not here

No, I cant recall who tweeted it or if it was his ask or if it was what the writer expected him to fetch. No Oiler tie.
I imagine Oiler mgmnt had a conversation with his agent and the ask was something we would not be able to compete for, so he was moved.

He better be careful, free agents who dont sign by about July 3 because they want too much can sit till Oct 4 or 5 and sign for a fraction of their ask because the money is spent. I think Maroon is asking for $5M he might be at the dance without a partner come Oct 5.

That Kane contract is insane.

Good luck with that one SJ.

Yeah, I have to be honest. That's one of the worst I've seen in recent times.

The dude is a 40-55 point player in most years. He's not going to produce the way he did down the stretch all of the time for the Sharks. This is a guy they've known for like 3 months. Teammates in Winnipeg ran him out of town, he was accused of sexual assault in Buffalo. The Sabres never even began to work on retainining him even though he had the most chemistry with their star player. And they're now tied to him for 7 years.

dang, Kane cleaned up! 2 months of good behviour and handsomely rewarded for it.

Dude has lived a charmed life, tbh. Enough money to be able to live the lifestyle that he loves. It's the kind of lifestyle that a lot of guys want to live (minus the alleged criminal activities).

I think SJ bid against themselves on the contract though and could have signed Kane for 6.25M x 7 years if they had waited until July.

Maroon still doesn't get that much this summer in my view (at least I wouldn't be the GM to give it to him).

I think 3.5M x 3 years is the most he's going to get.

Safe to say Boedker's about to jettisoned in SJ.

For those looking for a speedy winger on the cheap, I could see him being a good target.

Caggiula/Aberg(or both) for Boedker at 2.5?

He looks well worth pursuing.
The issue with Macherin is that he must be signed by June 1 or he goes back into the draft. This means that any team trading for him must have a deal in place.

I think he would be a good gamble for the Oil. He could play with Leon.

If he goes back into the draft, Id love for the Oilers to pick him. He can definitely add skill and grit to the prospect pool.

With SJ I think they will try to find a home for Paul Martin and or Justin Braun. Sounds like Thornton will take a home town discount to stay with them. If Kane behaves himself it is not that bad of a deal--but if he goes off the rails he could make the Lucic deal look good

I hope you're right but suspect someone gonna throw some stupid dough.

Reminds me a bit of Semin. Clean up his act for the lockout season, gets a 5 year deal and that 1st season already was being questioned for his work ethic.

And lets for a second pretend he is no longer a locker room issue, he still injury prone

Arizona will wind up in Houston and there is your 8th Central Div team, and keeps the Pacific at 8.

With expansion the NHL will re-align like the NFL. Four divisions of four teams each per conference. Pacific will be split into NW - EDM/CAL/VAN/SEA with the new Pacific being SJ/ANA/LA/VGS

Don't think Arizona relocates at least not until Seattle is in the league and settled. You are correct that the Coyotes franchise leaves what is the current Pacific Division to what is now the Central Division. New Central is probably split into ARI/COL/DAL/WPG and MIN/CHI/DET/STL.

That's quite a haul for Kane. I know he fit well with the Sharks but he has only hit 50 points once in his last 5 years (contract year), never hit 30 goals, is injury prone and the attitude issues so I wouldn't have given him that contract. What's JVR (a better player) going to get now? Batten down the hatches

I cant believe that Kane got 7x7 ... jeez. And doesnt SJ lose their 1st round pick too?

Seems like a bad contract. Ownership/Management must love the guy. We will see for how long.

I read that somewhere too, that NFL style divisional alignment. Might be real interesting and cut down on travel.

As for Arizona, the owner can sell if his losses exceed a certain dollar value by next year IIRC. Anthony Barroway is bleeding money, they’d cant draw flies, his arena deal with ASU fell through with no other arena deal in sight unless he takes up the Talking Stick deal (not the downtown arena the Suns play out of, the huge casino/resort on native land just east of the 101), his current arena deal is now year to year with the City of Glendale holding all the cards, and he is now actively looking for a financial partner, something he has to do to show the league it isn’t viable in Arizona any longer.

Houston Rockets owner owns his building and met with Daly about a franchise, and is doing his due diligence about bringing in a franchise right now. Sets up an in-state rivalry with Dallas so the league would like to see that and it has the population, corporate dollars and hockey interest to support a team.

If I am reading the tea leaves right Arizona is going to be sold and relocate to Houston. It may be after Seattle or before, but I absolutely believe it’s going to happen.

It's been said a few times now, but wow Drai's deal is looking better a lot faster than I expected it would. I always knew it'd be fine by the mid point of the deal, but if Kane got 7x7 other players far worse than Drai are going to be grabbing similar salaries in no time. Jeez.
