What the heck is going on with Wilson? Poile recently said they were hopeful he would be ready to go after the ASB, and now the rumor is he isn't close to being ready??? So frustrating- the guy just can't stay healthy.

I've not seen anything about him not being close to ready. The real question is what is going on with Bourque. Out 2 months now.

Anyone find it odd that Nystrom's broken foot was disclosed publicly, by Stu I think? You think the Lavi and/or the front office is upset about it? I guess since its Nystrom it isn't that important to play the subterfuge game.

No, I don't. Fisher's was announced. So was McDavid and Kane. I think a broken bone is different than a sprain of some sort.

We need Ribeiro and Smith to develop some chemistry. And we need Jarnkrok to look good on that line so when Wilson comes back he can slot in on the third next to Fisher and Watson.

We certainly do have our work cut out for us. We do have a bunch of home games coming up, but it is still a very tough stretch.

Next 10 games:

ST LOUIS
PHILADELPHIA
SAN JOSE
WASHINGTON
@ TB
@ Florida
DALLAS
BOSTON
LA
@ Montreal

That is BRUTAL- not an easy game in the bunch. (Philly being the “easiest†of the 10 but they aren’t terrible by an means). That is so brutal I am not even sure what would make that stretch a success. I am thinking 7-3 would be the absolute best case scenario- I would take that in a heartbeat. We need to at least win 6 of them.

With the latest beneath the ice episode I'm curious as to why they put the Hutton/trainer exchange on there talking about Gnash.

Hutton was a little salty and the trainer didn't really know what to say at the end. Just look at his face. Not sure how it was edited though.

Second toughest schedule in the whole NHL for the rest of the season.

Something miraculous has to happen that playoff hockey is played in Tennessee this year.

Miraculous?? Isn't that just a little bit of an overstatement? We have had a horrible first half and are still in the playoffs right now.

Definitely possible we don't make it, but we don't need a miracle.

Again, this board is so depressing.....

Pekka continues to play well, rest of the team not so much. Your goalie only let's one in on a deflection you need to win the game.

I knew after the second missed clear a goal was coming, was just horribly played by the Dmen and Forwards.

Told me so?? What? We are still in the playoffs after this loss.

We have problems and if we make the playoffs it will be by sneaking in as the 7th or 8th seed.

But saying we need a "miracle" to get in the playoffs is a completely ridiculous statement.

that was an absolute dagger to the heart. would gladly trade the entire all star weekend success and accolades for a 1-0 victory tonight for us.

Well, we have the second toughest schedule for the rest of the season so it's even harder to rack up points.

Behind us is a very dangerous team, the Wild.

Our offense is non-existent outside that 1st line. Rinne can't carry us every night.

All those things to come together I'd say yes, we need some kind of a miracle.

Let's take a deep breath and stop away from the ledge for a second... didn't expect that kind of post from you.

The ASG praise helps put our city and franchise on the map and has solidified us as a real hockey market. This was one game. Still a lot of time and work. Avs lost in regulation as well, so we didn't gain or lose ground.

Zona and Minny lost as well. Things are fine.

Again, no offense, but it is a ridiculous statement. None of what you said equals us "needing a miracle"- period. If we were 10 points out of the playoffs? THAT is when you need a miracle.

You are giving Byrd a run for his money in the doom and gloom category- I find it hilarious that you think the Wild are a dangerous team, yet we are a lost cause. They are in complete disarray and have a worse offense than we have. WE ARE AHEAD OF THEM

But they are dangerous and we need miracles- got it.....:shakehead

There were 12 games tonight- 24 teams played, all of them coming off a long break.

20 out of 24 teams scored 2+ plus goals.

9 out of 24 scored 4+ goals.

15 out of 24 scored 3+ goals.

But the most depressing of all-

23 out of 24 teams scored tonight. Only 1 team out of 24 failed to score a goal.

This was one of the highest scoring days of the season in the NHL- so no way can you blame the layoff for our pitiful offense tonight....

Scramble mode ... failed clear after failed clear ... back of our net with 1:05 left. You could feel it coming ....

And I had a loud mouthed Blues fan behind me ... but she loved our arena compared to Scottrade ... lol

Jarnkrok has no business in the top 6. Plain and simple. His ineptitude with the puck in the closing minutes cost us the game. We were already in scramble mode when he's moving up ice and then decides to turn around and skate to the corner with the puck and not clear the puck. Not sure what he was thinking but if he's the smartest player on the team, clearing the puck, even if it meant icing it would've been a better move than going deeper in to our zone and then losing possession of the puck.

Which brings me to another point, he has no business in a top 6 role because he is an offensive black hole. Not like Nystrom bad but he is not an offensively gifted player. His reaction time is still too slow to do anything productive with the puck or without it. He also gets knocked off the puck way too easily and you can't continually lose the puck like that.

Arvidsson is another one who I don't get. Fast but weak on the puck and his spacing last night was puzzling. On a few two on ones he went extremely wide and even if a puck got across to him he in no way shape or form had a chance to get a good shot off. He handles the puck like a grenade and for a skill player that's not a good thing.

Both are too small and are tweeners. I've harped on it before but Arvy, love his effort, but he has no business in the AHL while Jarnkrok should play on the fourth line and be a penalty kill specialist. Other than that, these guys don't fill any needs on this team unless we are looking for a quota of small guys with less than NHL skills.

On a good note, Rinne made some amazing saves last night.

I missed the last 8 minutes when I had to switch to watching on my phone and that was unable to buffer.

Having said that, a few observations from what I watched:

Rinne has picked up where he left off and is playing solid, solid hockey right now.

As we all feared heading into this game, the Forsberg-Johansen-Neal line was the only line that looked truly dangerous at all.

Arvidsson has no business being at this level right now. He still can't stay on his feet, offensively or defensively.

This team definitely misses Colin Wilson.

They also miss Seth Jones' ability to bring the puck up out of the zone. Lavy needs to start increasing Weber and Josi's minutes to about 28 a night and reuniting Ekholm/Ellis for about 25 a night. Maximize the offensive output from the defense by leaning more heavily on that top four like Chicago did last year.

Ekholm with only 18:19 last night. That's low. Did he get hurt?

Wasted PP opportunities. Clutch PP goals are crucial and that game last night saw several early opportunities slip by that would have set the tone for the game.

Poile better find some more forward help (either from within with Fiala or from without).
