It looks like we actually have been. You could argue it should be cut more though.

21-22 Burns TOI/GP: 26:09 (with the Sharks)
22-23 Burns TOI/GP: 23:13
23-24 Burns TOI/GP: 21:42
I'd go so far as to say that we need to seriously consider breaking up the Slavin-Burns line and possibly swap Burns and Orlov, even if that means playing opposite sides. Orlov should be able to jump into plays a lot better, which means Slavin could stay back as our emergency valve more often, and Chatfield should be able to cover for Burns, just at significantly reduced minutes.

I don't really know what else to say. Both Slavin and Burns look to be struggling this year. I'm seeing Slavin make mistakes out there I haven't seen him make in a while. Last night he got completely caught flat footed watching the play on the first goal against.

I'd go back to running 7 D and rotate TDA in with Slavin 5v5 to keep Burns' minutes down and play TDA on the top PP. Worth a shot at this point. But I'm not breaking up Orlov/Chatfield or Skjei/Pesce. Nor am I scratching Slavin or Burns...

I agree. But who do we sit? And don't say nachos because you know it isn't happening.
Nor is martinook. Fast? Noesen? Neither deserve to sit.

I agree but I don't know who you sit?

Even after the goal last night, I think the answer is Drury. Double-shift the Cs and/or give TT and even Necas some shifts at C.

Although I'd be just as likely to run a 4th line with TDA on it as running an 11F line combination.

So our goalies:

Raanta: 3.47 GAA, .857 SV%
PK: 2.93 GA, .878 SV%

I've looked around the NHL and found a few goalie candidates we might want to look into.

Alex Lyon: 1.26 GAA, .958 SV%
James Reimer: 2.30 GAA, .917 SV%
Alex Nedeljkovic: 2.26 GAA, .926 SV%
Petr Mrazek: 3.37 GAA, .900 SV%

Curtis McElhinney hasn’t let in a goal all season.

We need to do something in goal. I get wanting to give Pyotr time but he also has to show us something. I am not sure he will ever be more than a backup, which is okay.

Unfortunately we may not be able to get anyone, who is gonna trade a good goaltender?

Some familiar names.

Maybe patience isn’t a virtue with the Canes FO when it comes to goalie evaluation and development.

Or maybe goalie evaluation really is voodoo.

As funny as this is, I always thought we should have kept Reimer after his last season here. He is very good backup quality and performed great for us.

Well, I left out a few key important bits of information.

Lyon: 4 games played, 30 years old with 43 NHL games to his career
Reimer: 6 games played and he's a career .911 goalie, so not out of the norm for him.
Nedeljkovic: 4 games played. His last 2 in Detroit were .901 and .895
Mrazek: .894 and .888 in his last 2 seasons before this one.

Logan Thompson in Vegas has been good and only makes 1m as a backup.

But it shouldn't be hard to upgrade on what we've been getting.

Y’all think we’re bad, just watched the DeVilles get spanked by the woeful sharks on their home ice. At least the islanders are a semidecent team, the horrible sharks scored 6 on 17 shots.

Just for fun, according to Moneypuck goals saved above expected as of today, among goalies who have played at least 4 games:

Lyon: 11th 6.3
Nedeljkovic 28th 2.6
Reimer 33rd 0.6
Andersen 39th -0.5
Kotchetkov 58th -5.8
Raanta 64th -6.9 (nice)

What is this, 2016??
