There are better players on the board, but I can't turn down having one of this guy and Orr on the ice for a great majority of the game...

The Chicago Blackhawks select Paul Coffey, D

The Washington Capitals select perhaps the greatest pure goal scorer to ever play in the NHL with th 18th overall selection Mike Bossy, RW

The Washington Capitals also select another incredible goal scorer and physical force, with the 19th overall selection Alexander Ovechkin, LW

Was hoping to snag Ovechkin with this pick...instead I'll take the other elite LW in this draft...the Chicago Blackhawks select Valeri Kharlamov, LW

Playing next to Messier should drastically reduce the number of cheap shots he sees

I'll solidify my top pairing and add some nastiness to go along with Clarke. Welcome to the Phantoms, D, Chris Chelios

Makes my decison easier, with my pick #23 in the PTD, the Senators select defenseman Brad Park

Chelios was the best Dman on the board back when I took Coffey, but I opted for Coffey to create the problem for my opponents of having to gameplan for two offensive freaks on the blueline on separate pairings.

Philly is a defensive monster so far with Roy, Bourque, Chelios, and Clarke

I figured whoever I didn't pick between Park and Chelios would be gone very shortly. I just couldn't pass up the thought of Chelios and Clarke hacking away at other teams every other shift.

I think you made the right choice...IMO Chelios was the better player of the two, but even if you consider them even, Chelios being a RHS fits better next to Bourque.

Also not surprised to see Park go shortly after...he was the last remaining of a tier. Both good picks

IMO the gap between the 5th and 6th goaltenders in this draft is the largest one player gap among goaltenders, therefore, the Chicago Blackhawks select Vladislav Tretiak, G

I'm surprised Yzerman lasted this long. I probably would have picked him if he was still there.
