No Love for Carlson despite being 5th in D for points and being a rock defensively

Much like Backstrom, Carlson is extremely underrated. He is having an amazing year, yet doesn't get nearly enough recognition. Also he is way down on the All Star Ballot leader board.

underrated by which management?

but...to the OP, John Carlson plays for the Capitals. Known as the Crapitals by many including the league's prime broadcast network(Milbury called them the Crapitals in an actual segment on tv). People don't care about the Caps. Ovechkin is like 41st in AllStar voting. People regularly don't think Backstrom is a top 10 center. So, who the hell is John Carlson?

He hasn't even been on the power play as much either making this more impressive.

Great contract for a player of his caliber as well compared to some other top guys.

Trotz effect. Takes d and brings out their best long as that d buys into what he says. Glad to see it working on a good d man over in wash as well. Swear that man works magic with d men. Just need to split it with a coach that can teach young forwards as well..

Tried telling people this summer to expect a McDonagh like jump in play from him. What could have been if not for Steve ****ing Eminger. You're welcome Caps fans.

Carlson has always flown under the radar on this board. The guy made the US olympic team over some players that still get voted on in the polls long before him.

He routinely plays the most minutes on this team and has been it's #1 defenseman for quite awhile now. His minutes would be higher if he didn't have to compete with 2 of the best PP QB's in the league for PP1 time (he still gets time with the 1st unit, just not every time their out there)

He is getting seriously close to Norris Trophy caliber, hell if he keeps his current play up he should be in contention this season.

His ranking on the allstar voting means nothing. Having said that, he is so overated it isn't even funny. Not very good.

So please trade him to the Ducks so Folwer-Carlson can be a thing.

That pairing was awesome at the olympics.

Um, he's having a good season and has been a good defenseman for some time now. Do we need to have threads acknowledging every player than is playing well?

So the caps have a top 10 dman, #1 goalie, a #1 C, the best goal scorer in the NHL, I would like to know how they are only a bubble team. That doesn't add up, sounds like some players are getting their tires pumped too much IMO.

Besides Backstrom and Ovechkin, look at their forwards... it's not pretty.

Plus, Hotlby was struggling earlier, having to un-learn all the crap fostered upon him by Oates.

He's under appreciated by a lot of people. Plays the toughest minutes by far and has been ridiculously good since a little bit of a shaky start.

What the hell are you talking about?

Who the hell said Carlson was a top 10 dman? Yes Holtby is a #1.... Yes Backstrom is a #1... Yes Ovechkin is either the #1 or #2 goalscorer in the NHL depending on your opinion.

You realize that's 4 ****ing players? It takes a team.

Idiotic post.

Not to mention those are the same core players that only 4 years ago were the main part of a Presidents Trophy team that routinely won their division. But, you know how it is, "what have you done for me lately?"
