ROY DU NORD!!!
Yup. The more high end prospects in laval the better. I would love to see MB get some good AHL talent to surround these guys.
Then they graduate together to Montreal in a few years.

Suzuki has been recording the second most shots in the OHL for the past three years, he's a shoot first. He hasn't ended a single year with under a 4 shots per game. That's 330 shots a year in the NHL.Suzuki is pass first mentality...
He's an elite shooter, the concern is whether or not he can get those shot off efficiently at the next level. At a 9.5% shooting percentage (Jonathan Drouin's career shooting percentage), 3 percentage points down (25% or so less) than an elite scorer like Ovechkin for his career, Suzuki would score 30+ goals in the NHL with those shot totals.
Bit more of a volume shooter though. He gets pucks on net a lot more than Cammy, but youre not wrong. Im also not sure his one timer is as good.I see Suzuki as a Cammalleri type. Good shooter and passer who knows how to get open. Loves to shoot but able to make some very creative passes. Not the hardest worker but gets in the right position offensively and defensively. Creates a ton of turnovers. PP specialist.
Exactly like Cammalleri.

Yup, Cammy was all about striking quickly because his shot wasn't that menacing, it's his one-timer and his ability to get open that was. Nick is more of a Pacioretty type of goalscorer, where he can beat you with his shot alone because it's so great. I think Suzuki has that double threat talent, too. Will he dish it or will he tread the needle ?He scores a lot of his goals by changing up the release angle and timing. Pretty different shooter from Cammy.
I actually kinda miss Cammy.
Yes their shot is a little different but I think stylistically they are very similar. That's kind of what this team needs. If he ends up being as good as cammy then I'll be thrilledYup, Cammy was all about striking quickly because his shot wasn't that menacing, it's his one-timer and his ability to get open that was. TBH he's also a threat to deke you out, but I feel he's shy on that end sometimes. A shame he's not a greater skater because he'd be a complete animal, but then again, he wouldn't be a Hab.This is really his whole game. It's maybe even a triple threat because even when he's shooting you're not 100% sure when it's coming and from what angle.

Haven't considered this comp before. Cammalleri is actually a pretty good comparison. I think/am hoping Suzuki brings a bit more of a well rounded offensive game though. More of a passer-scorer hybrid. I always saw Cammelleri as a bit of a one trick pony - a shooter. At least in his time with the Habs.I see Suzuki as a Cammalleri type. He was certainly more of a shooter but his passing game was incredibly underrated. Also had great hands. I know what you mean about cammy though. He's remembered for his Brett Hull style one tee.Haven't considered this comp before. Cammalleri is actually a pretty good comparison. That playoffs where he was on fire and led in goals was pretty awesome. He scores a lot of his goals by changing up the release angle and timing. Pretty different shooter from Cammy.

Oh for sure, but I mean, he's not an elite skater where he's going to be an actual threat on skating alone or that his skating needs planning to contain, like a McDavid or Barzal.I'm not at all worried about his skating. He's not marner, but that kid can teleport. But his skating concerns are, IMO, overblown. He coasts and is still first to pucks regularly. Watch some of his highlights from his draft year and compare them to this year. He's just taking it easy. He used to be extremely aggressive, back when the OHL was a challenge for him.
Cammalleri + Halak = Major PO upsets
Hard to believe it was already 9 years ago...
Yeah he won't blow by people like those two. He prefers to slow the play down and setup. Still, he's a huge threat off the rush with that NHL shot and playmaking.Oh for sure, but I mean, he's not an elite skater where he's going to be an actual threat on skating alone or that his skating needs planning to contain, like a McDavid or Barzal.
I know this is the Suzuki thread... but if anyone is comparing him to Cammy, then let's hope Suzuki can one day do this in Montreal.. Wow!What an amazing ride that was. My favourite time here on HF!

Its surprisingly emotional, actually... Best PO game in Montreal since '93, imo.
Build a winner, MB!
