f***ing disgusting. At least with a NTC, you can bury his ass in the AHL.

Who is coming to supplant him and send him to the ahl in the next two years. It's dumb yes, but like does it really make a difference if we have nothing to put in his place....i mean we are playing staal.

So maybe Seeler would net a 3rd rounder in a trade. That’s no great haul. He’s a third pair guy or occasional second. If the Flyers hadn’t re-signed him they would have signed a veteran UFA this summer to do his job.
The salary for Seeler is not out of line. Four years is a lot of term. Perhaps like Gudas or Braun he’ll play it through fine. If not, it’ll be an easy buyout. As for the two year NMC, so what? They’re not going to trade him next season since they just signed him. So really the trade restriction only impacts him in the second year of the deal. Years three and for could have him on the trading block. The club has bigger issues to handle than Seeler.

havent read anything:

Wanted to say it in my own words:

This franchise will never change one BIT! Seeler will be the next development coach/ phantom coach. They will use him to mentor the young dman coming up. He will be the new everybodies darling.

he will underperform as hell and they will protect him every f***ing second! The praise of D´angelo, Fisto or Amac will be the least annoying thing we have witnessed from now on!

Buckle up Flyers fans!

this argument is so lazy. We should keep and overpay a fringe Dman cause if we trade him for a pick its not gonna be a great one. This is probably the line of thinking the Flyers do as well cause they have no idea of asset management. Sure maybe you get a 3rd for Nick Seeler. Then maybe you use that 3rd within another deal that nets an even better asset or an even better player. A well managed team would be able to think beyond just the one trade.

Also lets not pretend Seeler for a 3rd would not be more than fair value. We are talking about a 6/7th Dman who was just about out of the league until being rescued by the worst GM in NHL history. I bet a player drafted in the 3rd rd in this upcoming draft will have a better career than Seeler (if the Flyers would draft said player is a another argument).

They also gave Deslauriers a 2 year M-NTC. It's something they don't give a shit about. Hayes had a 3 year full NMC before a M-NTC. From 2026-2030 Tippett has a M-NTC. Full NMC for Couturier. Sanheim 4 year full NTC before a partial. It will continue. As if these guys couldn't have been signed without one. The Deslauriers and Seeler M-NTCs are fetish territory. They probably get a tingle when a player asks for one because gosh darn it, they want to be Flyers.

This has been a Fletcher/Flahr thing carrying over. I believe the only NTC the Flyers had previously was Giroux. Hextall even signed Voracek for 8 years without any NTC/NMC.

Spending my winters as a millionaire in Southern California sounds great.
It worked out nicely for Cartsey and Richie too.

On a separate note, Is the flyers Reddit just super young?

They are always super homerish about everything the organization does.
Bro ... Reddit??? You must be very young! Stop reading Reddit! Its the forbidden fruit!

For real. Reddit is Schmutz! Stop reading it! Its for your own good! Your mental health and all!

Imagine how much better this team would be if instead of obsessing over having a good locker room, the higher ups cared about acquiring players that are good at hockey.
imagine when Seeler can give what Carter Hart and the higher ups wants after a night of party and alcohol?! Maybe he can! Maybe that is the reason he got that contract?!

We dont kink shame here? Right? ..... RIGHT!

If this is what DB argued Seeler down to, what was Seeker's opening ask? 5 years @ 4 mil per?!

Absolutely insane contract for a bottom pairing dman who will be 31 years old when this contract starts for a rebuilding team.
Lebron play beyond 40, Brady played beyond 40, Jagr played beyond 40!

I think we all know what athlete Seeler is!

I'm not saying its great, i'm just saying its not as bad as you think. As far as blocking players...do we have that many nhl capable defensemen in the system right now that he's blocking in the next two years? They've repeatedly mentioned how Drysdale was rushed when he was brought in by Anaheim...are they gonna do that with Bonk? Andrae looked nowhere near ready for the physicality of the nhl in the preseason. Ginning and Attard are placeholders.
Right. They will DONT play youth as long as they aren´t young anymore. Than they will claim they dont have experience in the NHL so they cant play in the NHL! The same shit they have done over and over again in the last 10 years!

You cant learn to play in the NHL without playing in the NHL! But this franchise is toooooo STUPID to understand this!

I think you're overthinking this. Maybe he did. Maybe he changed his mind when they hired Tortorella and went further off the deep end. Maybe something else made him decide enough was enough.

No matter how you slice it, nothing this team has done in his lifetime has bought them any leeway or benefit of the doubt. We are one of several teams in that boat. It truly isn't difficult to judge effectiveness of an NHL franchise.
I´am pretty sure its a mixture of:

1. Kevin Hayes gave him insight information of the culture and the thinking in the inner circle of the franchise
2. The usage and care of Morgan Frost, Andrea, Zamula and other potential solid rookies
3. The history of valueing bottom of the lineup players
4. The history of being bad for more than a decade
5. The history of devaluing players with skill (Giroux, Voracek, Ghost)

Easy to think he wants nothing to do with this franchise!

Some Ducks people have said that Gauthier did not want to play center. The Flyers indicated that that was why they wanted him to return to college-to work on his play at center. Hence the clash

It's like all these players willingly want to give up their chances of ever winning anything meaningful, while risking the fans souring over their contracts when the wheels fall off and they can't be moved. Basically Seeler rather wants to end his career with a chance at a Flyers tribute video than a chance at the cup, even tho we all know that tribute video was all but guaranteed anyway.
