Malkin slashes Raffl in the face: 1 game

Gudas slashes a pen in the head: 2 games

Phil Kessel slashes a 2-time norris winner in the face 3 seconds after a line brawl: crickets

I get that Kessel's slash wasn't hard or vicious, but it was extremely careless, especially when you consider the fact that Kessel's slash wasn't a hockey play. He wasn't trying to get the puck off of EK's stick. Karlsson had the puck and his back turned the other way. There was 0 reason why Kessel's stick should have been anywhere near EK up high. Parros and co are a f***ing joke.

I can’t believe I’m actually reading this.

And this is why i laugh at the ex fighters that are all coming forward to sue the league for concussions.

Nobody put a gun to your head and told you that you had to fight for a living. And if you were to stupid to understand multiple blows to the head was a bad thing then oh well enjoy your life as a vegetable.

In reality, that option shouldn't even be on the table for players because they aren't anywhere near informed enough to make a sound decision for the situation.

Nobody is to stupid to understand that repeated blows to the head is bad for you.

These people just see dollar sugns and that is good enough for them.

This is the perfect example with backes. Just later in his career then most. He is saying screw it to his health and looking at ways to continue to get paid big money.

Whoa man, this is going a little far...

First off, most of them actually didn’t know about the effects of concussions and hits to the head during their days. Most of the science on traumatic brain injuries is just coming out and it didn’t come to the light until the Belak, Boogaard, and Rypien deaths.

Second, these guys are living a lifestyle that has been heavily glorified for many years now, and they’re trying to feed their families.

On top of that, telling any human being to enjoy their lifestyle as a vegetable is not cool.

It's not about understanding repeated blows to the head is bad for you. It's about the choice of having to accept that in order to make it. It's a sort of extortion.

They didn't have to continue with there career in hockey. It was a choice to become a fighter and to take a beating every night. And that choice was made all because they wanted money. They didn't care about the risks while they were playing.

And you said it in your own post. Its a choice. Its not extortion.
