Get ready for the "Stanley Cup Playoffs TV Ratings Down Double Digits" headlines because they're coming. At least in America.

No New York Rangers, Chicago, or Detroit. Only Original 6 will be the Bruins. Bruins are still a distant 4th in Boston behind Pats offseason talk, Red Sox, and Celtics.

Philly is in a similar spot as Boston as the Flyers are clearly behind the surging exciting 76ers.

Washington won't care until the Caps prove they can get out of the 2nd round. Plus, the Wizards are in the playoffs and just got their best player back.

Pitt will draw great locally, but nationally fans are tired of them.

Tampa, Jersey, and Columbus don't move the needle. Toronto will draw huge in Canada, but will be up against the league leading Raptors.

Out West we all know it's Chicago or bust. Ratings could get ugly.

Who gives a shit. Ice Hockey will never be big in the US(this has been beaten to death, we should stopping shoving Ice Hockey down American throats, they already have too much shoved into their throats.)

You are a hockey fan, just screw the ratings and just watch the games because NHL playoffs are the best and very intense, Pens vs Flyers is going to awesome, there will be other matches that will be intense, hard-hitting and fun to watch.

In recent years Bruins had a higher TV ratings than Celtics.

And Raptors are no factor in Canada.

I actually cheer for the NHL to get bad rating as I am bitter about the lockouts and them not going to Olympics. On the other hand, I love the game of hockey and would enjoy the playoffs even if hardly anyone was watching them.

"The Leafs closed their season Saturday with a franchise-best 105 points and will open the post-season in Boston on Thursday. Their fan base has responded to their success this season. Leafs games on Rogers' Saturday showcase, "Hockey Night in Canada" (airing on CBC), averaged close to 1.5 million viewers this season, up 20 per cent from the season before."

Head of Rogers' NHL coverage hopes exciting Jets, Leafs will draw strong ratings

"The 2017-18 regular season was the most-watched in team history, the Bolts said Tuesday. Viewership climbed 20 percent year-over-year this season and was higher than the 2012-13 season, which was shortened by the NHL lockout.
The Lightning posted a 1.83 HH rating average — 34,400 homes — over the course of 75 regular season games on FOX Sports Sun. The rating was 1.80 during the 2012-13 season."

34,400 homes doesn't sound like too much considering that there are over 18,000 people in the arena and over 3 million people in the city.

Why do 2 of the 3 games tonight both start at 7PM EST? One would think the league would want to stagger the start times. Maybe start the game in Winnipeg at 8PM EST (which would be 7pm local time in the Peg). A 6PM local start time is just weird. Another headscratcher from the NHL.

Did anyone get a local rating in Las Vegas since NBCSN was apparently blacked out in favor of ATTSN?

LA - LV game drew more viewers than PITT - PHI. That is surprising for me.
Not sure if that's surprising, the Flyers/Pens game probably dropped viewers since it was a blow out after the 1st period and then after the 2nd. Weird though because NBCSN supposively dropped 12% from the regular season, but these are solid postseason numbers.

There were rumblings from NESN that a few big wigs at the network were making a last minute push to get Thrusday's Red Sox/Yankees game on NESN and to bump the Bruins game to NESNplus. The Sox have been pulling monster ratings to begin the season and Thursday's game against the Yankees is the most anticipated regular season game in well over a decade. Don't be surprised if you have to tune to NESNplus to listen to Jack Edwards.
