How can "Crosbyfan" be realistic when it comes to Crosby???

Serisouly :

Crosby will struggle big time for his lack of experience at senior level and his small size. The so called "new" NHL won't be any different from the old one ON the ice, and Crosby will have a hard time adapting.

Ovechkin will also struggle. He's not used to the NA style of play, and he won't have any good teammates to help him up front. But he's got a huge advantage over Crosby for he has played with seniors for the past couple of years, including the World Cup and the Senior World Championships, where he led Team Russia in scoring (you remember that this team included Datsyuk, Kovalchuk and Kovalev, right???).

Anyway, IMO Crosby will get something around 40-50 points, and Ovechkin should have the same rookie year as Kovalchuk 3 years ago.

I don't think anyone can say one way or the other who will win. Look at the list of rookies that will be playing this year. The list is amazing. This year is going to be fun to watch all the future starts shine.

Perezhogin could be close in terms of points, i think he will adjust incredibly fast to the NHL.

Would you still say that if Perezhogin wasn't a Habs prospect? :dunno:

I like your analysis but where I would differ is that Ovechkin is not used to the NA style of play. That's a big reach, IMO. His game translates very well.

I also want to point out that another player who played for the Russian Senior Team was Malkin, who didn't score a goal and finished 0g-4a to AO's 5g-3a. I mention this because I really like Malkin and see him as a comparible talent to Crosby.

If Malkin, who by many accounts is as or more NHL ready than SC fared as such it could be a decent litmus of things to come for young, uber-talented center prospects adjusting to the pro game.

I'm not going to debate on this issue with you especially when I seen Crosby play plenty more times then you have. Crosby is the strongest forward leg wise to come from the Q in long long time. Bergeron wasn't pushed around in his rookie year and Crosby is much stronger then him.

Crosby will be awesome one day. But if you don't think a 17 year old kid will be pushed around by men then you've never played hockey in your life. Guys like Chara, Pronger, Stevens will flatten him.

Of course they will. Hopefully he won't be seriously injured but half the HHOF is players who have had season ending or season ruining injuries. No one is immune to it.

Sid has played all his life against the best players on the planet 2 to 4 yearts older than he is/was. He has usually been targeted as the best player on the ice. He still managed to produce.

The more he scores the more he will be targeted. So guys like Chara, Pronger and Stevens will flatten him. He may miss a game or two even after an honest check. He may also just get up unhurt and take Chara, Pronger or Stevens to school on the next play. He could also get seriously hurt.

The risks are always there. Throw in cheapshots from guys like Hatcher and the fact that the NHL will only reluctantly discipline players even for open unguarded blows to the head.

Sid will be at risk.

So will every other talented rookie in next season's Calder race...and every other veteran.

probably not because i wouldnt have followed his progression as close as i did.. but go check up the way he adjust at each level, go see his skills.. but mostly his hockey sense... i can tell you now, i am convinced 1. he will make the team, as a minimum 3th liner.. possibly could move to the second line, and who knows.. maybe first if Julien wants to put more stability in his lines.. moving Zednik with Ribeiro and Ryder.. anyway, its just my opinion, i didnt say he would win, but im more confident than i was with Ryder last year, and i was one of the few who had hopes with him.. anyway.. maybe you can check up with people who followed RSL... go ahead compare, i even put Ovechkin for you so you can compare with a super talent.. Perezhogin is effective and got the instincts but isnt has... FLASHY or POWERFUL as other prospects.. or didnt go 1st, 2nd, or 5th overall in the draft.. again i didnt say he would win the ROY but that he would produce and surprise, i am no fool, talents are just insane but dont underate the kid or dont think i say that only because he is from montreal, i could have said... KOstitsyn.. NO, i could have said.. Plekanec, NO, i could have said.. Higgins, NO... just Perezhogin could do this.. thats my opinion thats all, take it for whats its worth.. not much but hey... ;)

Hey I know all those stats and I know who Perezhogin is as I have watched the Russian Superleague all season long. Perezhogin is one of my favorite players already. But you should not forget that Perezhogin scored most of his points when he was moved onto Jagr's line.

and why is he one of your favorite players.. imagine now if he would be player owned by your team.. yeah Perezhogin rules... :D

I just think he will do pretty well with the habs, pretty much a lock on the team.... i would be shock if he doesnt make it, imo is already better than Sundstrom? dont you agree?

I think Crosby will win it if he plays with Lemieux and Palffy.. damn... i predict a 80+ pts season... If he plays on the top line.

Crosby 80 - 23 goals 61 assists.. - 84 pts
Palffy 68-39-45-84
Lemieux 61-21-45-66

lecavalier averaged 2 ppg in his last year in the Q, and totaled 28 pts in his 1st NHL season as an 18 year-old

crosby averaged 2.7 ppg in the Q, and IMO he'll score 30-50 pts in his 1st season

crosby has a much better supporting cast than vinny did however.
